Easton Ultra Lite C8

Recommended Posts

The UltraLight is Easton's popular jack-of-all-trades shaft. It's been around for a while and has definitely stood the test of time. I'm a big fan of them -- so is Paul Kariya.

It's very durable, had good feel and it's pretty good at popping a hard and accurate shot off as well. I especially like the Ultra Light shaft because it comes in an 85 flex as well as the more popular 100 flex -- which is actually too stiff for most recreational players.

The Ultra Light started off as brown, then it went to green, then it was white, I guess this is the new paint scheme, but hopefully the same quality product it's been for many years now.

There has been a few conversations about the C8. I think that its a SMU that is a lower quality ultralite (more fiberglass than graphite if I remember correctly).

A SMU with the UltraLight name? That's crossing the line in my opinion. Call it the UltraLightening or something like that, but to stick with the same name is misleading in my opinion. Or at least make it more obvious.

TPS has been far worse with re-using high end names on low end products.

Absolutely, TPS has price point SMU's at sportchek of the response plus and the adrenaline grip that have identical names and cosmetics to the original high end sticks. A note on misleading easton products-Sport chek has been selling 129.99 easton si-cores forever now, last year i started to notice that the newer batches of si cores seemed a lot less blade heavy then the original si cores, my friend, who had bought one ended up cracking the blade on his so I asked to see it and I wasnt suprised to find that there was no stick of silicone gum on the inside.

sorry, but what does SMU mean?

I can't remember what the acronym means, it could be Special Management Unit, but esentially it's when a manufacturer makes a custom line for a retailer. A commmon way to do this is to take a mainstream product and put some kind of twist on it so it becomes unique.
