Cheesehead 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2007 Couple seasons ago me & my boy throw his goalie gear in the bed of my truck & head off to Virginia, a little over an hour away. We get there & I realize we never closed the tailgate. Both of his goal sticks are gone as well as my two Ultra-lites. Thank God nothing else fell out.A few months later we played in the Bantam A championship game at the same rink and our team captain forgot to load his gear in the car.was that the Wild rink??One time in a summer league game (just to stay on the ice and mess around) i was sprinting to the puck where i lost an edge. so i pick up the puck and throw it. everybody is laughing ,so we ended up breaking the puck out from the throw. Maka 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2007 I've spent upwards of 10 minutes looking for my right glove, only to then realize that it's tucked in the armpit of my left arm.

kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted May 28, 2007 Put clear tape on my steel so I could wear my new skates aroudn the house. Forgot it was on, stepped on the ice...BAM. Fell flat on my ass. Bruised my tailbone too.
fluggles 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2007 I think the only things I have ever actually forgotten to bring to the rink have been small things like tape or extra wheels. However fairly often I have dreams where I will arrive late to a game and then realize I don't have my skates and then once I get them and finally get laced up the game is almost over, god I hate those dreams. Anyone else have those?

DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2007 our goalie forgot his skates once for a game probably an hour and a half away, he ended up renting these blue and yellow plastic skates from the rink haha (pretty sure he got a shutout that game oddly enough)at least he was able to rent a pair. We had a goalie come to long island from south jersey to cover for our regular goalie when he couldn't make it to a game once. He started suiting up and all of a sudden stopped and uttered a few expletives. No skates. He traveled 2 1/2 hrs to get to the game. We played without a goalie (6 skaters, no slapshots allowed for either side) and took a 2-1 lead into the third, but wound up losing 4-2 I believe.
Benchboy 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2007 I have to resurface the ice before our practices so I put the bottom half of my gear on and drive the Boni in my work boots. One night I finished doing the ice put my shoulder pads and helmet on and jumped on the ice. Something felt weird and I looked down and I was still wearing my steel caps, totally forgot to put my skates on.My team mates won't let me forget that one! jeffw 1 Report post Posted May 28, 2007 was that the Wild rink??Not sure-so many rinks It has two ice sheets and one of them you have to go down stairs to get to it.
jjtt99 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2007 An old goalie of ours went to play pick up with us, but unfortunately he went to the wrong ice surface. Fortunately it was another pick up group and they were short a goalie so he played.Freakin goalies -- he said he realized about 1/4 way into the game that he didn't know anyone on the ice, but he kept playing anyway. Meanwhile, we were shot a 'tender!!

notorious#29 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2007 I was suiting up before a game and had all my gear on except for my helmet. I realized it wasn't in my bag so I looked around the room, still couldn't find it. I ask my buddy (he was the only one in the locker room, the rest of the team was already warming up) He looks and me and just kind of snickers. So I turn the rest of the teams bags inside out looking for it, scan the room once more and begin yelling swear words at the fact I can't find it, and he isn't being much help, finally he looks at me says, chill out man, it's on your head. NTKT10 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2007 I've never forgotten something on a roadie, but I'm only 5 min from the local rinks so I've never played without something for a home game either. I like to get to the rink early and take my time suiting up.Funniest story I can remember is playing peewees. One of our d-man didn't show up until after a game ended. When asked where he was he said his family had driven 2 hours to the other team's home rink only to discover there was no game there. After asking around they figured out the game was at home and drove back only to walk in as the game was ending.

fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted May 29, 2007 not the only one throwing pucks... ;)happened three weeks back, i was trying to screen the goalie. Been getting pushed, shoved, crossed checked from behind the whole game and it was pissing me off. One of my line mates took a shot from the point, I screened but the goalie gloved it and tried to wave it around to show off.... I basically just took the puck out of his gloves and lobbed it over him into the net. Too bad the ref had already whistled for a faceoff... had a good laugh after that though. forbs02 20 Report post Posted May 29, 2007 When I was playing in high school one we were playing a game at home while our boys team was on the road. One of our girls opens her bag and its her brother's stuff. Turns out that he grabbed her bag when he left for his game that morning. She ended up playing wearing his huge stuff... I'm willing to bet he wasn't able to do the same thing.
jeffw 1 Report post Posted May 29, 2007 Told this one before....We were getting our asses handed to us one night...seemed everything they threw at the net went in.After a whistle I went to the center ice faceoff circle to take the draw. I'm standing there with my head down and my stick across my knees trying to catch my breath when I realize I'm alone. I look over my shoulder and everyone is lined up at the corner circle looking at me & laughing. The goalie made the save. I've also spit on the inside of my half shield several times and once spit on a ref as he skated past the bench (didn't see him coming, lol)

godiogo 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2007 I was at a gym once, and miraculously there were a good number of decent looking women (it's a gym used mostly by male sports teams for strength training). I recognized one of them, who was on a treadmill, and went over to say hi. As I was about to say hello, I stepped on the treadmill next to hers, only to find out the hard way that someone had left it on. Needless to say, I went flying. Backwards.
