Has anyone gotten their stick fixed through the SRS repair system?

Recommended Posts

There has been quite a few people talking about it on here. Maybe search Stick Fix for more info on them. There are pictures and sort of review in show it off. Hope this helps.

When fixed properly the stick will almost never to break in the same spot again. With that being said, the flex does change somewhat due to epoxy/carbon insert used to fix the break. Another factor is where the break occured which will determine how the flex will be effected. The closer to the flex point the more noticable its going to be. Ive fixed around 50-60 sticks now and have only had a few come back due to faulty repairs. Seems to be working well so far

If your stick breaks at another spot from where it was fixed, and isn't reusable, can you heat the shaft up and take out the epoxy/carbon insert in the stick to put it into another stick, lets just say for some road hockey or something of the sort?

Ive done it before and it worked out quite nicely, was considerably stiffer than before but it was a junior flex so it doesnt really matter a whole lot.

I have had two dolomite shafts repaired with SRS. They worked okay for about 2-3 skates, but after that the shaft started to wiggle back and forth where the repair had been done. It was EXTREMELY noticeable, i still have them and they just sit in my room. Cant even stickhandle with 'em. But i had them done right when my rink started offering it, so since they were one the first ones to be done i think that has a lot to do with it.

All in all, i was very disappointed by SRS.

According to Joe(the guy that fixed mine) you cannot remove the plug once it has been used once

We have done testing for SRS on our Oggie Tru-Flex portable flex measuring device http://www.purehockeymag.com/index.php?opt...7&Itemid=38 , and I can tell you personally that their flex in the the repaired SRS sticks stay very similar to the original stick flex. The sticks that we have tested have also offered very good durability characteristics in break tests.

I used a friends stick that was repaired by SRS and it felt so weird. I felt like I could really notice it flexing more, and the overall feel of the stick was ruined.

before you use srs check out www.compositestickdr.com. i know him personaly and he has done a stick for me and will be doing 3 more shortly. his backgorund is custom composite aircraft parts. his repair is on the outside and is stronger that srs.

with srs you have two pices that are are bonded on the inside only. compositestickdr's repairs the shaft back into one piece.

btw i had a stick with srs and broke the repair lose the first time i used it. would not recommend it. but i highly recomend compositestickdr.com

I just had one done and picked it up on Wednesday. I used it that night for ball hockey. I was a little skeptical since it was broken at the taper and the guy seemed hesistant to do it. It's noticeably heavier (bottom heavy) since its located at the end of the shaft it kind of throws of the balance a bit but when I started playing I hardly noticed. Stickhandling is the same and I felt that it shoots even harder then before. It seems pretty sturdy and durable. I'm taking it out to the ice rink today to see if it can handle some pucks.

So far I'm happy with everything except that when I brought it in the guy told me $29.99 and then when I went to pick it up the cashier said $39.99. I was very pissed b/c I wouldn't have done it for that much more. It came to $45, I could have bought a new shaft with a few extra bucks. Assholes.
