Do custom skates always fit?

sorry for the stupid question... but if I am measured correctly, will custom skates always fit? Is there any risk to them not fitting properly? Is there a guess on the % of dissatisfied customers who get customs, but don't like the fit?

Like anything else there are chances of them not fitting properly. If the brand of skates the your getting custom fitted for, don't really fit your foot type, that means that wont fit all that great. You have to make sure you have the right brand in other words.

I would first say that there are many different degrees/variations on what makes a cutom skate. For instance a different tongue makes a skate "custom". That being said custom skates will provide the 'best' fit for your foot. Again however no amount of custom fitting is going to make someone with a very narrow foot and heel fit well into a pair of 8090's or 9k's. The best thing to do is find a skate which suits your foot and that you like and then have it custom fitted to your foot ie thicker ankle packs, 1/4 sizes, different L & R skate sizes etc.

yes they do make it for your foot, but no matter how much Bauer tried to make a skate to fit my foot, it wouldn't work, i cannot, and was never able to fit inside a Bauer Skate, ever after baking the skates they kill my feet like if they wee just off the shelf. I know getting them custom ordered would change a lot of things but i just cannot work with those kind of skates. Its basically what you find best for fit, and what you want or don't want or want to change in your skate.

Do not mention all the extra goodies like the tongues, stiffness etc2 I also really want to know if the skate is custom eg. Build to your last, will it fit 100% of the time?

However, just don't get custom skates from anyone - lots of shops don't offer it because they're not trained in custom skate fitment. Best thing to do if there are any doubts is to have them bring in the sales rep.

Wrong. I had the Bauer rep measure my foot for custom XXX's two years ago and I couldn't even fit my foot into the boot.

Im going to quote my graf rep here " its hard to say how a foot reacts when placed inside a boot". makes sense to me. u can get as close as possible but the end result may not be what you expected. You can get damn close, i havent seen any come back.
