Hockey Bags...Continued

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a hockey bag that fits the following criteris:

1) Large - 40"

2) Skate pokets on the outside with the blades facing up

3) U-Shape Top Openning

Does anyone know if such a bag exists?

the 5k bag has all of those things except for the skate pockets. those are on each end of the bag, and you could always put the skate in upside down.

Hockey Giant has the Vapor XXX bag on sale for $30. Looks to be very close to your specs. You could lay the skates on their backs with the blades facing each other.

LINK

* 600D nylon with reinforced straps

* Durable #10 zippers

* Water-proof bottom

* Vapor XXX graphic

* Size 38" x 18" x 20"

Graf bags are pretty close to that, with the exception that one of the skate pockets has the blades facing up, the other facing down.

I imagine he knows of the ones that are "Close" to the specs he is looking for

At least his comment was an attempt to help.

I could post a dozen bags that are close... none would help him find the right bag... so why does posting bags that are "close" help ?

Not busting stones here...

but if we post a few that we feel are the closest, maybe he will find a suitable substitute or even one he likes better, lets keep it friendly and try to play nice and help each other out alright?

There's no requirement to post anything. If you don't want to help, that's fine, just don't nitpick when someone else does try to help.

I'll help all day any day... but when he lists criteria... it seems bags with a "But" only will note bags he has seen...

Had he asked for bags that are close...

but anyhow

CCM made a bag with two end pockets with one large skate pocket that runs most the length of the bag that will fit two skates orientated any which way(but this is not an idividual pocket for each skate. My tag states 40 x 18 x 16. It has a top side full zip U opening.

The bag is about 5 years old. I believe they had a later version that was a tacks version, and also 40". They also had a 36"

How is that anymore helpful? Do you have access to a time machine?

CCM 1052 bag matches what you want exactly, both blades face up on the skate pockets, which are on the outside. It's a U opening and it's a 40 inch bag.

hockeymonkey had them, but are sold out, perhaps ebay.

Very tough, durable bag, I love mine

I have the CCM 1152 CCM 1152 @ Hockey Monkey 36" bag from Hockey Monkey. I wanted the larger bag, but they were sold out! This bag looks like it is what you are looking for, other than the fact that it measures in at 36". I am a pretty big guy, 6'0" 215 lbs, and my gear is XL with a 10.0 skate, and everything fits in my bag....A bit snug, but it carries all of my extras as well.

Hope this helps,

Sean

By the way, I have only had the bag for a week or two, but it seems well built!

The V6 and R4 are just as "close" as any other of the recomendations, and the 1152 is sold out at hm. I didn't say that none of the suggestions were useless, however, I'll agree that none are exact. None of the suggestions are useless because I have yet to see a current-production bag with the skate blades facing up. But hell, who are we to say what is useful, when you (iceholes), or I were the ones to ask the question and create the thread.

Thanks for the many suggestions, even those with "close" suggestions. Despite the false assertions of iceholes, even those with close specifications provided valuable information. I am willing to provide one concession on my specifications. If the skate holder can't be "skate blade up", I can live with the skate blades facing out to the sides. I can't live with the skate blades facing down as the blades take a beating when the bag is dropped to the floor by my careless son. Thus, my revised specs are as follows:

1) 40 "

2) U-shaped openning

3) Outside skate pockets where the blades do not face down

4) No wheels

Does the Easton Stealth bag fit this criteria? Others?

If the issue is wear on the skate blades, have you considered using a soaker or blade protector on the skate, or possibly putting something soft for padding at the bottom of the skate pockets? That might open up a whole set of bags that you weren't considering before.

Thanks for your useless contribution. If his stuff will fit in a 40" bag it'll fit in a 38".

WTF is going on in this topic? Grow up guys.

Warning added.

i've had this bag for 2 years. it's been very durable considering how i throw it around. i got the 40" bag and it is way too big for my stuff (size s or m, size 6 skate) but the smaller one looks very nice. you could probably fit a whole set of goalie gear in the 40" bag, i mean it is huge, and the end pockets are big enough to put gloves in one and jersey/socks in the other one. i imagine the 36" bag will be plenty big, especially if your son is not done growing yet. i'd second this recommendation.

I have a Warrior Dolomite bag that has a U-shaped opening, no wheels, and has a large pocket on each end -- large enough to fit a skate in whatever orientation. (I can actually fit both skates in a single end pocket, but you may have larger feet). I believe it comes in a 40" size as well as 36".

Yeah, I would second this. When my skates are in my bag I put rubber skate guards on them (I always take them out and take the guards off when I get home so they dry out), anything in your bag can take a beating and it just makes sense to protect them.
