fixing a visor

Recommended Posts

I have no experience with an oakley visor, how does it crystalize, and what are the "crystals"?

It crystalizes through you using a substance other than AFR cleaner or straight water. The crystals are discolored particles of the visor polymer I believe.

Damn. Tough luck.

Metallica, can i ask, what did you use to clean your visor? I'm guessing shampoo or something along the lines?

was wondering... does this happen to itech hs22 too?

I've had the same hs22 visor for years washing it with soap and water and it hasn't happened to me.

No, it won't happen with the Itech. The reason that it happens with the Oakley is because the Oakley is designed to absorb moisture which then drips out of the bottom of the shield.

Yeah, also, shampoo does not harm the HS22.

That's weird, I've used shampoo, pledge, everything but AFR cleaner and my Oakley visor hasn't crystallized at all.

agreed i have used just plain water and hand soap from the bathroom at the rink and nothing has happened. i still havn't bought AFR cleaner.

if you get shampoo with conditioner it will keep it from crystalizing. But only if you rinse and repeat.

no, I am not serious.

I've personally used Johnson and Johnson Baby Shampoo on my Oakley visors and no crystallizing or anything. Just those cheap $.85 travel size bottles you can find at Target.

Works great in my opinion.

hi i didn't really know where to as this but i figured this would be ok..

i bought a new rbk 8k and one of the helmet screws just refuse to budge! whenever i attempt to unscrew it the washer follows! i've tried putting a coin on the little notch of the washer and even sprayed lubricant on it but it still isn't working!

if anyone has any advise please share it.

thanks

Way off topic!

Try screwing the washer one way and the screw the other. If not take it back to ur LHS and they'll do it for u at no charge.

hahaha yea i know.. well i bought it from east west and i stay in singapore so yea not exactly convenient.. i ended up getting really frustrated and drilled through the screw... so now i have a hole as big as the screw head on the side... good thing i bought the oakley spacers else i'd never get my visor on..

and yea i did try it your way... and i found another topic on msh with regards to this and did everything they said to no avail.. hockey companies should just work on producing a quality product inclusive of all the parts! and that means making better washers/nuts!
