Video Game Console Question

Recommended Posts

After beating assassins creed, I have to agree it is a TOTAL shitter. Do not buy it.

Tough game to review, the graphics are pretty awesome, climbing around the cities is amazing, and the concept in general rocks. But on the other side there is waaay too much repetition in the actual tasks you need to complete and the storyline just blows. Also, I haven't beat it yet, but everyone I've talked to that has says the ending is just crap and will make you hate the game.

I'd highly suggest renting it because it is fun for a bit, but I don't see any reason to buy at all.

COD4 is AMAZING. If anyone gets a game, get COD4, graphics are stunning, and it uses the same engine as the Quake Games do.

got to agree COD4 is immense, it leaves the realms of a medal of honour copy and has brought the same kind of gameplay to a rainbow 6ish style scenario

Obviously they made it, but after playing some more tonight it just plays way too much like KOTOR.

That's what I was afraid of. After playing KOTOR and KOTOR 2 and then Jade Empire, I figured they'll just keep making the same game but change the characters and setting. Too bad. it's not that I didn't like those games, but after Jade Empire I got tired of the same old thing.

I think I grew tiresome of KOTOR after initially liking it, but I was hoping for something a little different and finally lost myself in the story after getting a little further tonight. Very cool game and not a pile of cheese as I first expected.

Is Assassins creed really that repetitious? I really wanted to get this game, but with all the negative reviews around the web, I'm not so sure now.

To add onto what I said earlier, this game is just getting more awesome the further I go into it. After playing some this morning it's the first game in a long time I hate having to turn off.

Yes. Rent it, there is no point to buying.

You have 9 targets to kill; 3 in each city, 1 in each 'zone' of the city. You go out to kill the first guy, and there are tasks within the zone you are in that you need to complete before you have enough 'info' to kill your target. The tasks are climbing up a really high tower to get a view of the city, saving citizens from guards hassling them, sitting on a bench and listening to a conversation, roughing up a guy for some info, and that's about it. You do two or three of each of those, get enough info so that the target becomes unlocked, go kill him, head back to you main base to get instructions on the next guy you need to kill, go to a new city and do the same thing all over again.

Other than that you can collect flags and stuff, but doing the same mini missions over and over again is the core of the game and it is quite repetitive. The engine of the game itself and the walking/climbing around is cool enough though that I think it's worth a rental for sure.

You mean Mass Effect not KOTOR right?

My bad, yes I mean Mass Effect. The fighting blows goat and I hate the nerdly RPG side of it with how you have to level up your guy, so I have that set to do it automatically. The combat is pretty brutal as well but the story and interaction make up for it by far.

Yes, they'll cover it for 3 years.

So you must read you-know-what for the articles. ;)

Have to agree CoD4 is awesome. graphics are incredible. Haven't had much time with it, but the single player is good. The Multiplayer is really much better than 3, with stat recording and unlockable weapons and add-ons (like scopes, silencers, and camo paints) make it much more interesting and less monotonous.

very glad infinity ward is back on the CoD series.

For the Canadians on the site, Dell has a pretty nice deal on the 360 right now (not sure if the USA site has anything similar. It's the console, Halo 3, Forza 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and an HDMI cable for $399. It's the same bundle that Future Shop/Best Buy is selling for $399, except that bundle doesn't have Halo or the HDMI cable included. I'm pretty sure the shipping is free too.

I was initially put off by CoD4 before I even played it. When I heard this, it changed my opinion around completely. I'm happy it plays more like CoD2 than 3. Great stuff.

Has anyone played Uncharted yet? Its supposed to be quite the game.

Heard it is very good as well, yet to play it though. I'm going to try and get to Blockbuster this weekend and hopefully track down COD4 or Uncharted, get this damn Assassin's Creed out of my life.

Sounds kind of like Crackdown if you ask me.

I would get ps3

Free online

Bluetooth

In my eyes better technically overall

No bad rep of being shoddy and needing replacement

Blu Ray is going to get bigger than HD dvd
