HR Derby

Recommended Posts

Same here. I've muted it since Gay-Rod joined the table and it's a total letdown, especially since Fielder's presumably not going to make the cut. I like how Vlad's on there and has something like 14 HRs. IT'S A POWER SHOW!!!!

Anyone watching it? Really sucks so far as no one has it over 5. Any thoughts? Dissapointed Prince only hit 3.

The "Dinger Derby" (as my buddy calls it) get worse every year.

They need to invite players (not just All Stars) to be part of it. There aren't enough "power hitters" in it.

Exactly. I wish Griff was in it.

LOL, Ortiz just trew Vlad's bat and gave him a special "Papi bat" in a wooden case

I guess the bat worked. :)

It's horrible. I think it's horrible that they put Mags in there... He's no home run hitter; he just hits to all parts of the field. None of the guys there have a big homerun swing, besides maybe Pujols. And Rios? WTF is up with that?

I can't wait till Ordonez' swing gets all screwed from this :D

So happy ARod didn't do this, he's been great this year 'cause he's using all fields. You can't help but get pull-happy against BP fastballs.

It's too bad Big panic attack has the hurt quad, he'd probably be fun to watch with the cove there.

This is now just painful to watch and this used to be better than the game itself. It can't be good when the hokie "celebrity" games are better than the HR derby.

I think a huge part of why the HR derby is so bad is the announce team.

Yeah, BACK BACK BACK, shut up. ESPN has such incredible resources yet have maybe two good announcers out of around 25.

Holliday's starting to heat up.. But that's only 12.

But then again, I remember guys hitting 12 in one round. My prediction is that no one breaks 20.

Which sucks.

Not just Abreu, Wright had 20hr at the break last year and ended at 26 after doing well in the derby.

Also, about Rios, if anyone's ever seen him take BP he's a total BP superstar.

Yeah, BACK BACK BACK, shut up. ESPN has such incredible resources yet have maybe two good announcers out of around 25.

Name them.

And even with the Bobby Abreu syndrome coming into play, what about Ryan Howard, his swing certainly didn't get messed up last year (talking to Mack). Maybe if we had all pure home run hitters in here, we wouldn't have to worry about the contact hitters "ruining their swing".

Having two of the top 5 average hitters in the league this year (Mags and Holliday) probably doesn't help. What about A-Rod, certainly with 30 HR he deserves to be in the Derby. BTW, anyone else notice as soon as Alex stops sleeping over at Jeter's house 5 teams a week, he starts having a career year...

And the two least likely guys to be winning are advancing. Holliday & Rios. And I take back the "nobody's breaking 20 total" statement I said earlier. Rios has to get 3 in the final round.

.....Damn Canadiens.....

;)

It's only Canadiens when you are cursing the team...it's CANADIANS when you are cursing the country *L*

Orel's good when he calls games and Matt Vasgersian when he does.

The worst, other than of course Morgan and Miller, is Sutcliffe.

I still can't get over his "Schilling deserves to be a hall of famer because he started game one of the 2001 world series." Forgetting that Johnson started game six of the NLCS and pretty much just talking out his ass.

And the HR derby won't kill pull hitters like Howard. It's guys who use the whole field who get killed.
