The Pond is the 28th best place to see a hockey game? Hmmm... I don't think so but I'm biased.

Have you been to any of the 27 above it?

Yes, I've been to Staples (nice place but dead atmosphere because the place is so damn big) and I've been to the Igloo (back in '95 the place was a dump).

Like I said, I'm biased because I'm a Ducks' season ticket holder but it'a nice arena (great sightlines) with decent food choices and a quality product. I highly doubt it's the 28th best place in the league to watch a game.

I am deffinitly biased when it comes to arena's in the pa, nj, ny area. I think the Wachovia Center where the flyers play is a lot better then the Sabre's place. I was up there during the regular season and they're fans really aren't that great. Meanwhile I went to a flyers game when they were the drop dead worst team in the league on a snow emergency night and they still managed to get 18 thousand people there and the stadium only holds a littler more then 19. MSG is a legend in itself but its outdated and shitty, the lighting in there sucks to me and the shit hole the devils call home makes me want to vomit.

I was at a Flyer game a couple years ago and a guy two rows over fell asleep during the game. I've been to a number of games there and the fans only cheer if they fight or someone throws a big hit. They cheer for goals, but not as much as they do for the other two. Best game that I saw there was the world cup in 96, the US and Canada played in the first game in the building.

I was there, all of 7 years old. Sill have my ticket stub sitting on my desk. One of the best games I've ever seen, anywhere.

I stumbled across the little coin they gave me the other day. It seems like that thing turns up every couple years.

canucks fans are THE ABSOLUTE worst bandwagon jumpers of any fans in any city ive ever seen.

Almost, Flames are the worst for bandwagoneers.

There is no way Toronto deserves a 10 for fans in that last, the atmosphere at most games is terrible, 50% of the lower bowl isn't even back in their seats to start a period because they are schmoozing down the in Platinum Lounge or in the luxury boxes under the seats...just a joke, it's all suits. Get up in to the upper bowl and standing room, and yes those are real fans and quite possibly the best in hockey, but the suits down along the ice make me sick.

I do love buffalo....but who ever wrote this thing, pretending that the water front is something to be proud of here, and our "sweeping views of the Buffalo skyline and the emerging Cobblestone neighborhood"....is really reaching for something positive

Yeah, they're stretching a bit here for sure. I love the arena, but once you get a block away there is not much to see til you get to Chippewa. And if you're over 25, you could care less. One day hopefully, the waterfront will get used as it should have. I think of a city like Baltimore and wonder why we couldn't have something as nice.

Wow, calling the Joe a pile of trash is a little harsh. I would say Joe Louis Arena has a little to do with the Red Wings "tradition and history" as well.

It's a dump. I don't even think it's got character. It's just really, really outdated.

The trough!

Oh man. I remember holding it in till my bladder was about to explode when I was a little kid.

The Xcel Center in St. Paul is by far the best arena I've been in. Of course, it's one of the newest. The Saddledome is probably the weirdest arena I've been to in terms of layout, and the Scottrade (hometown) is kind of bad actually. Not sure why it's so high. At least they repainted last season from a ton of yellow to a ton of blue.

Last year we had tickets in carolina for the sabres/canes game 5. We sat in the last row of the upper deck, the arena is so steep that where we were sitting was above the bottoms of the banners hanging from the rafters.

The Xcel Center is a great venue for a game and there are numerous bars and restaurants in the neighborhood. That arena has really revitalized downtown St Paul and it is beginning to show, as evidenced by the many construction sites around the arena. If you think the atmosphere is good during an NHL game, you should go there when the Gophers play there during tourneys or during the Minnesota State High School Tourney. Here is a YouTube video of a Gophers game and the ensuing pandemonium after a goal at the Xcel Center.

I actually just moved back to St. Louis from the TC area, so I know that area of St. Paul pretty well. I also had partial Wild season tickets last season. I lived over in south Minneapolis, so making it over to St. Paul for a game (Wild or Swarm even) was always fun. Never saw the Sate or College tournies in person at the Xcel, but watched them on FSN. They looked pretty insane.
