Cutting a Sickick down

It changes the flex point and will increase the flex by around 10% for every 2 inches you cut it. If you cut the 75 flex SicKick 2 inches, then you'll end up with an 83 flex stick, and the balance point will be moved further down the shaft.

Depends on how much you are used to your current flex.

Some people get a harder shot when they switch to a stiffer flex, some people get a harder shot when they switch to a whippier shaft. It's very hard to tell how your shot would be effected unless you've used a stiffer stick before.

It shouldn't be that drastic on any tapered stick/shaft. The kickpoint is engineered to be in the tapered portion of the shaft so a small change at the but end shouldn't make a big difference.

Chadd, do you mean the flex change or the movement of the flex point?

Flex change

I need to see if Joe at Oggie can make his new machine test flexes the way that I think they should be tested. I believe the current method that most use is not accurate for tapered sticks.

He didn't mentioned tapered shafts, specifically, while we were in Toronto, but he did say that he disagreed with some methods used for testing flex.

I'm sure he'd like to hear other ideas to incorporate into the TruFlex.

When we talked about it before, he said that it would require some modification of his existing equipment.

is this pretty much a general rule of thumb for all sticks?? i've wondered about this. i use a 100 flex cut down 4-5 inches so that means its really about 125 flex??

Well, since Chadd popped in and told me otherwise, I'm not sure. If it's not a tapered stick (standard shaft), then it will be around there. It may be 2% per inch (or lower), speculatively, for a tapered stick, but I'm not sure.

The best method is a chop saw with a disc for cutting composite materials. Unless you run a shop and cut multiple sticks every day, it isn't worth the expense though.
