Way easier: Go to My Computer, open up the disk drive that represents your iPod. Then under Folder Options, change the setting to Show Hidden Files. From there, your songs should be in a music folder. Their names won't be correct, but their tags should be.

you don't have to buy it, however, after each 50 songs, it will ask you if you want to register, to buy, click no, and it will do another 50, ask again, click no, etc etc.

This will keep the song title, artwork, album, rating etc etc.

The only thing it does not transfer is playlists, so you will have to do them again.

I used it when going from my old computer to new laptop, and it worked great for me.

That's what I was going to recommend. It can be a pain, though, if you don't buy it since the transfer stops every 50 songs. That's a problem when you, say, want to transfer 2000+ songs and leave it overnight...

use "ipod agent". dont have a link, but search for it on download.com or something. theres a free trial, and sucks all the songs off rather quickly.
