Langenbrunner15 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 Okay, well I am having some problems iwth my One90s. I am previously coming from CCM 10.0's but had too narrow of a heel so went for the One90s. I've been at hockey camp the past two weeks and thats how long i've had the One90s. I am still getting blisters on my ankles which I haven't had in a long, long from skates. I also feel like i've lost my quickness on my backward pushoff and my cross overs. One other thing is that i'm catching an edge while backwards skating which I think may be from the longer runner, but not sure. I am thinking it's because the boot is just so stiff, but i'm not sure. Has anyone else had any of these problems or had any idea how to help?
Storm 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 You probably know this by now but going to a camp with brand new skates is not the best idea.I got my One90s last week and I'm still in agony. I've had a blister around the ankle area because I did not tighten them enough. I got some 2nd skin blister pads. Not having problems with the rest. Good luck. Langenbrunner15 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 Oh I know, but I had to break them in, my old skates didn't fit at all. I out some blue squares on the blisters and than I am fine but my skating I feel has gone down hill a little bit. My feet also start to ache after a while when I am in the states. Maybe superfeet will help that.
Storm 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 I got Superfeet but they did nothing for me other than make the skates more snug which I actually like.I can understand your concern having to deal with attending camp which can be stressful enough and having to deal with a new skate let alone a new brand.I believe you'll get use to your new skates, runner and all given enough time. With all these brands changing models every two years it's hard to stick with a skate now adays but what skate did you like in the past? Ti-girl 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 Sometimes skates just don't fit the skater period.I tried on the one90's and took a spin in them and spent most of the time on my ass. Couldn't get used to anything with them...so I switched to RBK 9K's.
Langenbrunner15 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 In order...I had RBK 8K's, Vector Pro's, Vector 10.0's and now the One90s. I would have stuck with CCM but the heel was too wide for me and I was ripping the linning apart of my 10.0s. With the One90s heel lock, it's great.
Ti-girl 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 Did you try the pump? I always had blisters because of my heel. With the pump I can get it to where it doesn't move. I really didn't like the One90's.
Langenbrunner15 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 Yeah, i tried on about every skate. One90s were the most snug in the heel. I am getting the blisters when I go on an edge, maybe I need to start lacing up the top eyelet...2,000th post!!
sabre09923 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 Try Missions, if the One90's keep doing this. I have a narrow heel as well, and the Missions were the only skates in the store that did it for me. Little pinching on the outside of my foot, but with wicking socks as opposed to thicker, cotton socks, I'm fine. Plus AgilityFit (supplefit) is a great bonus. Storm 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 When you are in pain it is normal not to skate well.At the moment I'm just going to stick and puck sessions and getting off the ice and removing my skates every 15 minutes.Heck even when I use to break in new cleats I wouldn't wear them more than 10 minutes at a time.I just think you took too much of a risk by attending camp with new skates. I realize in this heat molding era skaters expect no pain and if they do they somehow feel that the skate is not for them. I love extremely tight fitting skates so much so that if you graze my toes when I'm wearing my One90s I'll be in pain.Listen to yourself is it the boot or the blade or is it that they are new skates. I really didn't like the One90's.I tried the 9k pumps and my heel still moved up and down. (that's why I decided to get the One90s) Do you think my heel will dig into the skate (9k) with use. For the record, I don't tie my skates on the forefoot tight at all but at my ankle I do alittle more. I actually think it's the longer runner becuase it's more blade touching ice than I am used to and may just put LS2's on them if that is the ultimate problem. The power runner is only a few MM longer and NONE of it touches the ice, it's all in the heel area. The radius on the Power is the same as the LS2, same gliding surface, same amount touching the ice. Your problem is with break-in or improper fit.
Langenbrunner15 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 Is the radius the same as the E-Pros, because that's what I am coming from.
Cavs019 710 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 I never had any pain with mine, but they are C widths and fit tighter around the ankle.
philatangy 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 All I can say about my one90's is ouch. I am going to have them punched, because the area around my semanoid bone (I believe thats what its called) is killing me. other than that they are the best skates I have ever skated in, and I feel more sure-footed and fast than ever. Well, at least until the third period when I can barely stand anymore...
Langenbrunner15 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 Was talking to a few shop emplyees and the owner..it came down too that they're still just so damn stiff and I can't get any ankle bend in when I skate.
