Blade Patterns

Recommended Posts

I ran a search on the topic, but I did not find exactly what I'm looking for.

Question for the retailers...what are your best-selling blade patterns?

Question for everybody else...we (Christian) are currently offering Modano/Forsberg, Drury, Recchi, Iginla, Sakic and Lidstrom patterns. Are there any "must have" patterns that we are missing?

I'm doing some market research and this information would assist me greatly. Thank you in advance!

There aren't any retail toe curves out there anymore. Smyth/Recchi is more of a banana. I'd love a straight blade with an open toe. Like a shorter Shannahan with a round toe. Or a cross between the P29 and Shannahan.

Hull pro curve would be interesting too.

not a retailer, but fwiw i'm a darby user who prefers wood, and i'll go thru more then a few each season. currently use the tps blades but would love to have an alternative that wasn't a special order item.

I don't think they are must haves as much as they are what every consumer is used to. To be frank, every Easton pattern is awful, except for the Drury which I'm still not 100% content with.

Shannahan is one of the ones i'm considering, along with a Lindros and Darby.

I'd love to see someone make a slightly longer, 5 or sub 5 lie, Lindros pattern! Dream come true

Maybe a Kovalev pro curve. A lot of people already want them or use something similar, plus it covers the round toe-toe curve that a lot of people seem to want. But other than that, all the patterns you've got there look to cover most of the bases. As far as the Lidstrom curve goes, I swear to god Lidstrom popularity is a regional thing, in my area it's one of the most popular patterns, but then when you go somewhere else nobody uses it.

I can play a sakic and ive been using drury for over a year now. I beleive a lot of people swear by easton's curves, but assuming you meant theyre awful for you, ill leave you alone now ;). I honestly think the batch you have is great, Go Pios. Throw in a toe and maybe replace the recchi with a lindros/darby and you've got yourself a winner

It would be nice to see a Darby or Styles offered in the retail outlet. I never got a chance to use the Christian or Detroit patterns, how were they compared to what's out now?

I barely see anyone using Drury's around here though so I'm not sure. Most people tend to use Lindros, Modano, or Lidstrom around here. Sakic isn't common and Drury is pretty rare.

There's a few dealers around me so I mean to check out a Christian blade when mine goes. The 5 lie Iginla looks pretty cool. Might even go for the woody to see if custom blades would be worth the cash.

I feel sorry for whoever has to stand in front of a shot being taken by a blade that is more extreme/open than a Drury. I'd definitely put my face mask back on my helmet in that situation!

i think a true wedge would be welcomed by the general hockey public if it was put out there, something like a drury but i guess more extreme/open.

thats how it is here, i believe it is becoming more and more popular tho, the minute i got used to the versatility of the drury i couldnt go back, and that seems the be a general concensious. its a chance that some people are not willing to take because of how ugly the curve looks, but once someone comits i havent seen them look back.

+1 on Easton Gaborik and the P10/Shanahan - as many have previously mentioned, nobody makes a toe curve anymore.

The Inno Mogilny pattern...(which is similar to the warrior weight) or a drury in a lower lie. I think Warrior offers it to some extent, but I'd love it if you offered some adjustability in lies of each pattern, so you weren't stuck with a 6 lie on a pattern that you otherwise liked, that would be huge to me. But,Obviously it wouldn't make sense in some cases and I don't really know if others feel as I do.
