stick help

Recommended Posts

I am looking at 3 sticks in the $100 price range, the royale, one 70 and the rm7. Which is lightest, most durable, etc... Also, what is equivalent to an easton sakic curve in warrior, bauer and sherwood? I tried the bauer p92(naslund) curve and I dont really like it and it tends to lift the puck too much, so what is the next closest curve?

the sakic clone for warrior is draper, and naslund i'm 98% sure is the closesst and nothing i can think of that is close and sherwood there is no real clone but some say crosby compares

The Sherwood rm7 are a very good stick for the money guys on our team used them last season and stood up to quite a bit of punishment. Havent had any experience with the others but the Sherwood are a good stick

so a crosby is the sherwood equivalent? i was comparing a lindros curve to a sakic in store and it appeared very similar to me? am i wrong? does easton have a stick besides the synergy 300 is this price range (around 100)?

The Lindros is not a Sakic clone. P92 Naslund is the closest Bauer curve. If you could spend a little more money on a stick I would get an Easton Synergy ST. They are very durable and a overall great stick.

Edit: Out of the three sticks you picked out, I would get the Warrior Royale. A teamate has one and he absolutely loves his.

Honestly, if it was me I'd rather buy a pro stock or a closeout stick from last year. The SLs and Mission Pulse have been on sale for near or under $100. But that's just my opinion.

I wont say i have had bad expieriences with my synergy 350, but i know other will love to disagree so i wont threadjack. Any ways, if you decide you need a sakic then the 350 isnt terrible, or wasnt to me. However for 99.99, and sometime cheaper you cna have a pulse, or prostock stick, and If i was wise, thats the route i would have gone 2 years ago instead of my 350.

i've had good results with the rm7. the shaft feels strange because it's more rounded than most. it feels funny at first, but i chopped off the coffey blade and threw a forsberg woody in there, and it feels nice. however the rm7 feels very stiff for its rating.

the easton synergy 300 is nice too. i don't like grip sticks, but i imagine thats the only difference between the 300 and 350. the blade on the 300 feels really nice.

For an extra $10 to $20, you can get a shaft-blade combo. One90 and Ultralite shafts are $80, XXX Lite shafts $90, wood blades $20 to $30, or pick up some stuff from the sell section. That's what I'd go with over the price point sticks.

You can still get Bauer Endures from Hockey Giant for $60. I grabbed a couple and they're pretty decent.

Sher-wood Crosby is the clone to the Easton Sakic, all Sher-woods are clones of Eastons. If you look at the Crosby there is a SA for sakic above his name.

Are the applo and endures about the same as these sticks?

I think the Endure was supposed to be a high end "durable" stick like the Easton ST. The performance is decent, feel is pretty good, but it's a stiff stick that seems to work better for slappers and digging rather than quick wrist and snap shots.

The Apollo felt pretty heavy and stiff to me, moreso than the Endure. I've seen great guys play with them though. As usual it's the player and not the stick. But if it was my money, it'd probably be on something else.

well my shop only has the rm7 and the one70, they seem to weight about the same, but i like the rm7 a little bit better for some reason, is this a good choice or should i try and find a royale? I should get the crosby curve correct?

Actually i think you should go with what Jarick said, and get a shaft and blade. At my LHs they are selling sherwood (950) blades for 5 bucks. Im not sure if their 950 blades, I know they are sherwoods, i think they are 950. Either way, thats not whats important, the moral of the stories here is, dont fall into a price point stick lure, wisen up and grab a good shaft with a cheap woodie blade.

A high-end tapered shaft with wood blade will certainly be lighter than a price point. Personally, I'd go with either a Vapor XXX-lite shaft or TPS R8 shaft with a wood blade.

I think im going for the high end shaft and wood blade, what is a good shaft for about 90-100 and a blade for around 20? How are the warrior shafts? I liked the ak27 in store, is it worth 120? Whats a good easton wood blade?

Well you want to make sure you either go with standard or taper combos. For standard, tons of guys like the Easton Ultra Lite. They run $80 USD. The Bauer One90 is the same price. For a cheap tapered shaft, I'd go Bauer XXX Lite. I've read good things about it.

For blades, I really like the Easton Hybrids. I don't know if they're made anymore but they're a cross between composite and wood. I've also heard good things about TPS wood blades. I've used a couple Bauer wood blades and they seem to get destroyed pretty quick. Sherwoods should be more durable but seem heavy to me. Montreal blades are also pretty light.

If the combo ends up being too blade heavy you can cut the shaft down a bit and add a wood end plug up top.

hockey.lax.com has senior XV shafts for 70

What is that advantadge of taper? If I just want to use a normal wood blade do I get a non tapered shaft? How do I know which are tapered and which arent?

Tapered shafts give the same performance as the OPS-quicker release. You can obviously tell if a shaft is tapered or not because it literally tapers towards the bottom, and accepts blades with a thinner tenon.

are the ak27, vapor xv and one90 tapered? are they any good? Are tapered blades the expensive composite ones that run about $50 usd? If I want a normal wood blade I need a standard correct?

Any reccomendations on combos, shafts or blades would be appreciated... Im looking for it to be around a max of 130 and preferably an easton blade bc I want the sakic curve

AK27 and the One 90 are standard shafts. The Vapor XV and Vapor XXX Lite are tapered shafts. Tons of people love using the Easton Ultra Lite (already has been mentioned) which is a standard shaft. Tapered wood blades are harder to find than Standard wood blades.
