anyone heard of "STEP" hockey steel?

I have just talked to a raw materials company, and they have informed me that a really high end steel manufacturer is making replacement blades for almost all of the major brands. Apparently this guy started in figure skating blades, and has now created some of the best replacement steel for LS2, Cobra, Proformance Profile, Tuuk, and Easton.

The head equipment guy for the Detroit Red Wings is apparently using this new steel. Swedish steel as opposed to cheaper chinese steel that all the majors are sourcing from.

Yes, a few guys that work in shops on here have used it as replacement steel I believe. From what I remember, it tends to hold an edge a bit longer.

Nobody uses Chinese steel (NBH/Graf/CCM all in Canada.) Mission is actually Japanese steel.

I believe STEP is made in Canada, 50 yr old steel company. I've been selling it and it's very good. In addition to the quality, it has 10% more height for longer sharpening life, more blade in the heel radius (which is a plus.) If one needs replacement blades, I see no reason not to buy it.

STEP are the same guys who used to make the SLM steel, right?

Those were the best goalie blades I ever skated on, until my RBKs.
