vapor xxxx vs 9k pump

Recommended Posts

They are both lightweight high performance hockey skates. You will not notice the 50 grams in weight difference. Try them both on and go with the one that fits. The fit is the only thing that matters.

It shouldn't really matter, as they fit very differently. The Vapor is narrow and the 9K is very wide. If one of these skates fits you, then you wouldn't likely be considering the other one.

iwas in 30's last year and used a kids 40's for 6 or 7 days and now i have white 9k's, the 9k's are very comfortable and the 40's feel the same as the 30's only they aren't as comfortalble as the 30's no weight diff between the 30's and 40's neither

You shouldn't really be going between Vapors and 9k's, as mentioned before they have very different fits, it is impossible that both of them would fit you well.

Did not want to start a new topic on it.I had the chance today to trade in my (not baked or sharpened) 1500c i got for either 9k or xxxx.I tryed both of them and strangely enough i fit very well in both.So it come down to weight .... i feel the 40 lighter but estetic 9k (white) look better.I am so torn between them.

Anyone heard anything bad about of the two skates? i am trying to find a reason why pick one over another :P

(last skate i had was ccm/tacks pump of 10 year ago).So those lightweight skate are new to me.

I was in a similar situation to you.....coming off of Tacks 892's and looking at new skates. Tried on everything under the sun and for me.....the RBK's had what felt like an identical fit to the old Tacks line. And they felt a lot more padded and softer throughout the boot as opposed to the Easton lineup.

I had a ccm vector boot which is almost like the RBK, the toe caps are the same. I have been wearing the xxxx's for the past 2 months. I have to say the 40's are awesome. They give me all the support i need. I can't feel pucks off the skate with these like the other boot.

Don't want to start a new topic either, sorry to jack the thread, but I just want to know deep boots brake down easier right??

No. Boots that are too deep break down faster. That's reason number 2041 why you want to buy a skate that fits your foot.

Well coming from a 8090 a tried the XXXX when they got them and in. I put them on and there was no pain like in the old Vapors (XX, XXX) but there was something just not right. I also put the 9ks on and the were way more comfy for a big and volumeish foot. As my buddy TBL said, get a skate that fits, not the one which is the newest or flashiest.

Just to post my 2 cents.

yea but that is the prob Sven :P both fit me corectly.I dont have any prob with any of the two.Now its all about what they offer.Pump on one side and the lightness of the xxxx.I also always had tuuk on my skat before i stoped so i dont know about those new holder rbk has on them.

i have read a lot about the two but still i dont know.If someone could come up with a reason to turn one down :P!!!

The Vapors aren't exactly what I'd call "light." The one90s are "light," the S15 is "light," the Vapors... not really.

Not that weight really matters, why do people wear grafs? Because they fit their foot.

Nicky - rbk 9k white by a slight margin

TBL - If one of the two was better on my feet i wouldn t have this conversation :P.But thx for the input.

Havok - I can't give you a direct comparison, as I've never used the Vapor line of skates. Coming from a Graf 704 (used for 5 years), I wanted to try to move to one of the new generation skates, so I went with the One90. While the One90 is a great fitting, super-light skate, I just haven't been able to get as comfortable with respect to forward lean (even after putting in heel lifts) and overall stability / balance. So I went back to the drawing board and narrowed it down to the Graf Ultra G3 (fit like the 704) and the Rbk 9K pump. In the interests of trying something new (plus not loving the Ultra Ge tounge), I went with the Rbk as they seemed to feel good in the store and I liked the pump feature (plus the store sold me the display pair for C$300 + tax vs. C$750 retail which was an added incentive for sure!). I've only skated on the 9k's twice now, but so far I really like what I see. First, despite the fact that I don't have an especially wide foot, I find the skates fit well, with little-to-no pain from the get-go - the pump does a nice job of keeping the ankles snug. Like on my Grafs and One90s, I am still leaving the top eyelet unlaced to get the lean I like (yes, very forward, and yes I use a short stick). But most importantly for me, I feel more stable / balanced in the 9ks, especially compared to the One90s. I feel this better stability in all respects, including strides, turning, stopping etc. Can't say for sure, but it's likely the wider footbed of the Rbk that gives me that sense of stability. Again, I don't have a lot of milage on these skates, but like what I see so far. Good luck.

Well if its to any help:

The 9k weighs about 840 grams I think...

The XXXX 792 grams. :)

Well see that now helps (sarcastic)

Tomorow i am going back to my LHS and i will make my final choice!
