bauer vapor xxv

I am a 1st poster,but I been reading posts for a while now. I love this site!

OK well heres my issue. Currently I am in a vector pro, I have had it for about a year and a half. they are pretty beat and I was looking at new skates.

I really would love to get the xxxx but I just dont have 500. I saw the xxv next to them and well I like them, a lot. The only differance I could notice is that the xxv didnt have the same liner and was a tad heavier but I would say just as light as my vector pros. Now would I not be doing a smart thing buy buying these? Are they a good skate? I play competitve hockey But I just cant drop 500 on skates. The max I figured out is around 300-350. I also would need to buy and have extra steel profiled, thats more $. Will I see any issues going to a light speed holder? Any info would be great. Thanks

the xxv are wonderful skates, i can't tell much difference between them and my friend's xxxx. i love mine, i would definitely recommend them. i've skated on e-pros, razor bladz 2, and the ls2 and they all feel about the same pitch to me.

you will love the xxv's, i guarantee it.

I have the xxv's and they are my favorite skate that I've used...I've used vector pros and synergy 1500's recently and I like the xxv the best. I was told buy the store I bought them from that it wasnt worth the 200 $ for the xxxx seeing they are pretty similar except for, the toung (which most ppl actually like better), and they are a little bit of a softer boot, with different outsole material..go to epuck.com and it tells you the difference between the two if you read the xxv description.

Buying one or two models under the top line is usually a pretty good idea for most players. You get most of the skate at a fraction of the cost!

XXV is a great skate. Depends what skate your coming from they are a bit difficult to get used to and break in (like any skate), but after the first few ice times theyre awesome. Like already said theres not too many major differences between that and the XXXX, but definitely a great pickup for the price

on a side note theres also an XXIX which just came out (which is at my LHS) that is only $50 or $100 more than the XXV. I cant find much info online but by the looks of them, the tongue is half composite and the outsole is a similar material to the XXXX.

i definitely 2nd that. also, buy last year's models, i got z air comps (top of the line from the year before) for $180 US. I always go for the dated models, especially with easton, basically the same product dressed up differently.

Thanks for the feed back guys. That XXIX sounds interesting, I cant seem to find anything on it. However I think I will be going and buying the skate. I was worried coming from an old top model skate like vector pro that I would have some issues with quality. I am pretty excited as this will be my 1st ever bauer skate.

I hope they (bauer skates) fit you man, because the XXV's, from what ive heard, and hopefully will expierience, are a great skate. Good luck either way.

Hoping this will help him and me but what would be the differences between the XXV and the XXX?

The toecap on the XXV is different (uncovered plastic) from the XXX (type of ballistic nylon). The XXV has a different liner than the XXX as well. As far as stiffness is concerned, I'll take the plunge and say that they're similar but I've never physically compared them. Overall, the two skates are very similar to one another.

I've been a CCM guy for a long time. I'll probably buy either the 4.0s or 6.0s again. If I switch to RBK, I'd get the 4ks

If you are considering doing the switch....make sure you try on the RBK's first before you purchase them online. The RBK's are cut wider through the forefoot and with a wider heel pocket also. Just a heads up for you as I contemplated switching too.....but the Vector's just fit my foot better.

I was wondering the same thing pretty much as the OP.. I'm coming from 8090's so I am also curious as to how well the XXV will compare. I really don't have the money to shell out for XXXX and from all my research it seems that the XXV is a really close second.. I have yet to try them on so I suppose that is really the tried & true test.

No amount of information on any forum or from any friend/teammate could ever replace the 5 minutes of trying a skate on for yourself.

The XXV being in the price level it's at is a good bet. I've looked at the XXV at Sports Experts and they are a great buy for the features they offer. I've personally found the skates I've loved the best haven't been top of the line skates but a step or two below top of the line. Lets face it a lot of us don't have the financial resources to buy all top of the line skates every time we need a new pair. A skate that costs around $250 to $300 is usually decent enough quality and carries decent enough features and durability to do most of us anyway. With the XXV I don't believe any of this is a factor and its a good bang for the buck as it where.

From what I have ready here I think the Supreme 70 is supposed to be pretty similar to the 8090. But i guess the XXV is a bit cheaper than the 70.

The Supreme 70's are about $559 CDN. around here in T.O. Still pretty pricey for a lot of guys.

The XXV, from what I have seen, is cheaper. I think it was about a $100 difference. But they are probably two different fits. The XXV's seem to be a great skate for the price...
