I can say both these skates fits a wide foot, and it fits me alright. But, I like a skate with more ankle pad and holding my heel better. which of these skate fit a smaller heel? I tryed on the flexlite 10 and a pair of vapor XXII

thx.

I have a pair of vapor XXV's, which i dont think are wide at all, but about the heel. My XXV's have a prettty decent heel lock in my opinon. I imagine the XXII wont be to different. Cant really vouch for the flexlites though so ill leave that to another member.

Now that I'm ready to help, if it's any consolation, my heel would slide around in Vapors XXV's (just a little bit, though), but I haven't tried flexlites. I don't think it's because of a bad heel lock as much as it is about my really narrow heel/ankle area.

My Flexlite 12s have a pretty wide fit althroughout. I don't know about the XXIIs. I have narrow heels and the 12s let my heel move a bit.

thx for the info guys. Ill try them on again when I have time. I might go for the flexlite just for that extra money, and benefit from it since it will be replase soon by the 18. All my previous skates had thin foam around the heel and i would slip and move a lot wiggling it. btw does nike skate run but the same size as your shoe?

I would think the heel support is about the same in both skates since both skates are made by the company nike using the same patented anatomical heel lock. So get the skate that fits you best.

Nike developed their skates prior to Bauer being with Nike. I believe they have different design teams all together. Now, subsequently perhaps they have merged the lines, but from what I have heard (at least in the past) is they fit quite differently.

The overall fit may be different fitting certain feet better then others but I'm saying they use the same "Patented, integrated, anatomical heel/ankle support" that nike uses in all of their skates except in one90. So if just looking which skate locks the heel better I think its the same.

so basically the heel lock on both skate are the same but the vapor has more padding and the flexlite may have a wider fit around the foot? Am i correct?

No, they have owned Bauer since 94. Accels and Ignites were Daoust lasts, then a different last with Quest and Flexlite.

OK, but you're inferring above by ommission that the Flexlite/Quest line fit similarly to the Bauer Vapor series and I thought they fit quite differently (toebox/forefoot and arch area especially).

Am I mistaken (regarding the fit characteristics?

They are very different, in terms of fit. Flexlites are a deeper skate, and are wider than Vapors.

I think JR was saying that you were incorrect on the statement that Nike developed their skates prior to being with Bauer.

I fit in both skate fine. I have a mid foot and fit fine in the vapors but the tongue sticks out a little, while the flexlite fit too but the tongues doesnt stick out. Im willing to spend 360$ for a pair of flexlite.

Yep, pretty much what I thought as well - just the way it was worded was contradicting my main point (that just because they're made by the same entity does not mean the same fit) by ommission. JR is still aces with me :D

I also have been able to fit in both skates and be very happy with the fit.

btw a deeper fit is better then a wide fit with a tongue sticking out right?

A deeper fit is better if you have a high volume foot..
