What are these skates?

And the bonus round questions: What did the Medial Power Clip provide? What was its purpose?

It was supposed to more efficiently transfer the power from your stride to the blade (and the ice). Because little pieces of plastic can do that.

THE WINNER!!

Umm, while not as lengthy, I still believe that "marketing" was the first correct response. Now if you had asked what the Medial Power Clip was supposed to provide, that'd be a different story :)

In 2000 or 2007, marketing might be the correct answer but if you had walked into the Canstar booth at the CSGA in 1990 in Montreal and asked what the purpose of the new Medial Power Clip was, the answer you would have heard was Oberon's. I know it was when I asked.

Now for those who think skates have only recently become very expensive, what was the suggested retail price for the 1991 Mega 10-90 with the Tuuk V2 Stainless blades? The Bauer Supreme 3000 with the Tuuk V2 also had the same suggested retail price. Care to guess?

That's about when I bought mine, 1990-91. I want to say I paid $250-$300 for them. As I am lazy, and a packrat, I probably still have the receipt somewhere in my basement.

Yup....and I can remember paying $429 for my Bauer Air 90s...still have them in the house. They creep up every once in a while at the PIAS stores during the winter.
