Sher-wood Eclipse Goalie Stick

Recommended Posts

While i was in Canada for my hockey tournament me and the backup goalie decided to buy the Sher-wood Eclipse sense they dont sell them in Dallas/Ft. Worth Area yet. The second time our backup goalie used his stick in the game it broke when a guy landed in it. I did not have mine yet but decided the day following that i would get one to try it out. My first time (in a game vs. Team OHS SELECTS) a guy shot a slap shot from the top of the circle. Hit the shaft of my stick and snapped in half. I Am telling you that you should not buy this stick b/c 2 of the same sticks breaking in 2 days is not a very good record especially when were just playing Midget AAA, AA, A teams.

i was told the shaft of the goalie stick is the exact same shaft as the player stick but just fused together with the paddle and blade added on...

Yea check them out and see what you think about them.

They seem like a good stick but when you use them they will break or at least i had trouble with them

I played pick up with a guy who had one and he seemed to like it. I've broken enough wood sticks at the handle to know that it's all about hitting the right spot.

Yeah, it's composite. My point was that, as a shooter, I've also broken wood goal sticks as well.

I've heard these sticks like to break at the paddle, but I also heard the first batch were off and they have gotten their act together. Buyer beware for now I suppose.

Sticks are also going to break when someone falls on them. I've lost my fair share of them this way while battling along the boards.

"stick" to wooden sticks in my op. ive only broken 1 wooden stick in the past 4 years, now thats a good record in my opinion. ive got through a whole season with a koho 490 stick, its great, controls rebounds well and is the most flexible stick ive ever seen, i know this because i myself fell on it during the season,it got caught under my knee while i was still holding it in my blocker hand, and its still around, looking almost as good as new. next season, im thinking of moving on the a 590 or 580 stick, anyone got experience of either of those two sticks, please speak up.

will.

tjhe sticks is just the Eclipise shaft merged with a 9970/7000 paddle. that's it.  Composite stickand foam core paddle

Originally however, the G Eclipse, as they termed, was going to have an AXION Blade/Paddle, which were the first versions released.

Interesting that they have changed their mind...

It'll depend on the user. I've had a few goalies who tried'em and ripped them apart, others had no issues with them. I've heard the composite goal sticks give alot of vibrations off though.

Out of both of my Eclipse goal sticks, only one of them is alive now. The main problem is the shaft. They are just too brittle. I have heard that Sher-Wood has change the composite for 05. I'll have more info after the hockey show in January.

WIth all due respect, your not happy with a shaft because the paint chipped off? Performance has nothing to do with your decision, but cosmetics?
