This might be a dumb question, but what is the deal when you pre-order a stick like the S17 from an online store? Do they ship the stick to you as soon as they recieve it, or do they wait until the release date, which I think it was said is the 16th, and then ship it out meaning you get the stick on the 19th to the 21st?

Usually they ship on the release date. In some cases they will ship early if the manufacturer approves it, which can sometimes happen if too many other retailers start slipping the model out early. In terms of hockey gear though I think this concept of a release date is relatively new occurrence primarily brought on my the online stores advertising.

I may be way off but before the last few years didn't most stores, local and online start selling product as soon as they got it in without these street release dates?

Anyway, the only advantage of pre-ordering is like with anything else: you're guaranteed an item which may or may not sell out quickly (the first run batch at least). Whether that will actually happen is anyone's guess dependant on demand and Easton's ability to produce enough sticks and gauge potential sales interest.

Along with the guarantee to get it, you don't always know if your LHS will be getting them in the first shipment as well. I was chatting with the owner of the local store, and he had heard of the S17, but lord knows we're pretty low on the distribution list, being a few hundred miles from the nearest big city.

I asked him if they were getting some, he said yes. I don't really care to buy it, so I never asked to elaborate as to when, just for the fact that I'd eventually like to see it in person.

Check out Parise...uses an older CCM bucket and he's back to his Vector 10.0's from last year (from this years vectors) as well as never using anything but an SL. The only time he used the S17, wore S15's and an Easton helmet was filming his S17 clip.

Well, even though all of the poster boys besides Heatley aren't using it, at least it's being used by a couple other players here and there.

It's sorta funny how Getzlaf seems to be a poster boy for the s17, yet he's gone back to his SE

It could be he's already run through his first batch and is waiting for another shipment.

Probably not a good thing.

It happens more often that you think.

Really? I had no idea. I can understand if he went through...say...his first batch of 3 or 4. Any more than that in the short time he's been using it...just saying...durability much?

Guys will go through that many in a game. It could also be a case where he asked for a tweak of his stick which is adding time to the delivery of his next batch.

a few player's on the King's are using it like Visnovsky and O'Sullivan, I see them in handfulls throughout the league. I didn't even notice Getz went back to the SE until the shootout, I assumed he was using the s17 until they zoomed in on him and I thought I saw a silver stick.

edit: Mathieu Schneider used one in his first game back last night as well.

just to add....durability looks solid...

Rangers v. Devils (11-3) like 14 mins in the 2nd pd. i think Avery 2 hands Parise's S17 and Avery's R8 breaks but Parise plays the rest of the game with his S17...just an observation it was a really hard slash too...

Yeah i saw that too, a nice two handed right across the shaft and nothing broke! Except Avery's Response R8

thats reassuring for me...cause last night i saw that Greene broke 2 Vapor XXXX's :o

Yep, but then again Andy Greene is a beast

lol...let's not make this a Devils thread...lol

but yeah gotta agree with you...

back on topic...

since everyone is asking about lower flexes, different curves, etc. wouldn't it be smart for Easton to leak some Pro Stocks out there...like to Platinum (or whatever its called) dealers? Maybe make like 10 xtra for the players who have somewhat normal curves and sell them at retail?

makes sense to me.......

Doesnt make alot of sense for the manufacturer to leak sticks that a pro would actually use. Instead, it would be more economical for them to dump pro returns. However, I doubt Easton is going to rush themselves getting out their new top of the line stick to the public.

Maybe I'm a little behind the times on this one, but I found this interesting.

I think that is the new equivalent or update of their price-point 300 stick.

Link. I think JR mentioned it earlier, but I can't recall which one it replaced.
