Why do you like playing (insert position here)?

Recommended Posts

center and wing doesnt matter which side. Natural forward. Im small and fast but i like to dig in the corners in the offensive side. I dont score much but i give people a hard time cause most of the time when i go into the corner with someone i come out with the puck to set up someone infront of the net with a shot, or get it to my d men. Im good at face offs as well. In inline i play more center though and i am more of the fancy player with the dangles than the grinding forward. I score alot more in innline as well.

Defense, I'm with the others in that I love making a good clear, first pass or shutting down/frustrating their best guy. Some guys think I play dirty. I do what needs to be done. Suck it up. :P

Any forward position works for me. Love the passing, stick handling and shooting. When I played organized hockey I was known as a "power play specialist" ... A.K.A. cant backcheck for sh*t.

I like center the best. Mainly because it allows me the freedom to cover the whole ice surface. I like contributing on the defensive end. I like the pressure of taking faceoffs. I like the extra skating. It's just the position for me. Plus, I've never particularly enjoyed picking up the puck on the boards when the D-men throw it around. I am only now finally feeling a little more comfortable playing wing as I have played more wing than normal lately. I'd like to get better at playing defense as well to become more of a complete player.

Winger here. Prefer R, but will play left. I will sometimes take draws, cuz I can win them. I am just too old, fat, slow, and lazy to play C outside of the faceoff circle.

My favorite things about playing Wing:

Streaking towards the post on the rush

Crashing the net

Creating havoc in front of the goalie

Scoring on a rebound

Banking an outlet pass off the boards past the D to a cutting C, setting up a 2 on 1

Blocking a shot at the point and turning it into a breakaway.

I like playing the right wing. I'm right-handed so accepting a pass is always easier for me on my forehand rather than my backhand. Plus, I don't have much of a one-timer so playing on my off wing doesn't do much good for me. Every now and then I get one off but nothing consistant. I can play center or left but right is definitely my best position. Unless absolutely necessary, I avoid defense like the plague. Not because I don't see it as important but for me, I'm more of a liability to the team there rather than a help so I'd rather not hurt the team if I can avoid it. Regardless of where I play though, I always have fun because playing at any position is better than not playing at all.

Centre: I love the faceoff! I think it is one of the most important parts of the game. I also love the freedom of movement which you dont have playing on the wings. And of course scoring is the highlight!

Lately i've played D a couple of games, and i enjoy the fact that the game is a bit slower, ie: you have more time to think, more time to have a look around you etc.

goalie: um... no

Offensive Defenseman. Kinda got put into that roll 3 years ago, I have the ablitly to rush the puck and snipe from anywhere but, my coach thinks I have the best knowledge of the Defensive side to the game. I like battleing in the corners in the zone and makeing that crisp breakout passm But I love shooting from the blue line and skateing the puck up.

When playing forward, faceoffs, going 1-on-1 or 2-on-1 against the opposing D, making the pass from below the goal line.

When playing defense, making the D-to-D-to-winger play to start the attack, and shooting from the blueline.

When playing goalie, handling the breakaways and penalty shots, making the sliding butterfly save, peeking around the screen to make the save.

I like playing on the wing either side dosnt matter.

Reasons

Crashing the net

Getting in on the forecheck and hammering the biggest d they have

Screening the goalie

I really like tipping shots from the point

However because im a big guy 6'1 215 and not a tromendous skater My club keeps trying to put me in d but i suck at it and i always feel out of position.

We only have 4 dmen and one got hurt this past weekend so Ive got to play d till he comes back <_< .

There is one thing i like about playing d though standing people up at the blue just the best feeling ever and i love a good solid hip check but i can never get it right any tips??

I love playing hockey, I don't care where you play me. I play primiarly as a forward altho I have spent a few seasons playing D which has come in very handy as I am now able to drop back to cover injurys & penalties.

When playing as a forward nothing beats the thrill of picking the puck up at the blueline, skating through the teams D and roofing the puck leaving the goalie wondering how the hell you just done that. Its also great when you put a pass through to a team mate to give them a scoring oppertunity.

As a D man, the buzz you get when you stop a breakaway or clear away an important puck is awesome. I also enjoy the vision of the game and time on the puck you get when playing D, and lets not forget winding up for a one-timer at the point.

I like playing D. Its a biig responsibility, and i love to hit. I have a Rocket shot, rather than an Accurate one. Blocking Shots isnt a problem. I am also clutch, and real biiiiig!
