I dont know if he wll make a big impact. But I heard David Mckee got signed by phoenix this summer...I think one day he will make a solid NHL goaltender.

Depends on what you mean by under the radar.

Peca will have a big impact in Columbus, far more than his point production will show. Sydor should be a major boost on the back end in Pittsburgh. He's not going to score a ton of goals but he's a steady, veteran defensemen who can help settle things down in his own end.

Lang in Chi. It seemed like it was really overlooked, but if someone can light a fire under his ass he could be good with Havlat, Ruutu or whoever else they slot him with.

He should get first line minutes and put up good numbers

Where did you hear he signed with PHX? Everything I can find says he is still in the Ducks system ...

I believe thats what one of the Foddrill brothers said a week or two ago. Maybe he is still in the Duck's system...either way, dude is going to be good some day.

Nylander in Washington. Maybe it's not under the radar since he's relatively a known name and the Edmonton fiasco, but it'll be sick seeing what he can do for AO.

I think that move is going to pay off in spades. I'd even say it's the most important signing of the offseason.

Can't argue with that- Nylander is a gifted set up man who dosen't get a ton of press. Boston should have retained him a few years ago when they had the chance.

Fernandez in Boston is a good pick up too. The NE is STACKED with good goalies. Almost every team has a proven #1 and a kid in waiting for the job.

Mon: Huet/Price-Halak

Tor: Toskola-Raycroft/Pogge

Ott: Emery is kinda both...their #1 and "the kid"

Bos: Fernandez/Rask

Buf: ditto Miller as the #1/kid. Conklin will be a decent back up...but if at any point they have to rely on him long term...they are in trouble.

Until they can deal him (I'm thinking December, probably), Gerber gives the Sens probably the most legitimate two-goalie tandem in the NE. Neither of them need any development time in the A (possibly unlike Price and Rask) and Gerber is so damn good-natured that he doesn't particularly care whether he starts or sits on the bench. $3.7M in his pocket sure doesn't hurt, but he was apparently the same way before he cashed in. I think Price in particular would really languish as a backup, and the Habs would rather see him play every game in the A than sit on the bench. It's more or less what the Leafs are doing with Pogge - they'd rather he played constantly in the minors and got, say, five to ten starts up top. Let Raycroft go cold. :)

Some could argue that the best 2-fer in the Northeast is Fernandez/Thomas. Thomas has been the league's best backup posing as a starter for a season and a 1/2 and Fernandez looks to return to form following knee surgery in the offseason.

Granted, but I'm not sure Thomas is as comfortable in the backup role as Gerber, and frankly, Gerber's a lot more consistent. He may not have been satisfied by his performance last season, but his stats were (I'm not kidding here) exactly identical to those he had in Carolina. Thomas will occasionally steal games, but he'll blow just as many: great goalie, bit of a headcase.

Show me a goalie who ISN'T!
