Butt-end vs. xxx-lite

Recommended Posts

Hey, i just bought a xxx-lite from the states but im almost six four so i always need to put butt-ends in my sticks. the thing is, when i try to put a butt-end in the stick it only goes in about two of the three inches then stops. no matter how much i heat it up or fast i push it in it just doesnt go in any farther. does this have something to do with the shape of the shaft and if i cut about an inch off the "inside" part would it still hold?

To me it sounds like there something stuck inside your stick.

Maybe too much glue on the butt end? Some of the butt ends I have used had to be shaved down and some of the glue taken off. When I had a wooden one in my tps shaft, I had to take off all the glue. That didn't work and it was still a little too big, so I shaved it down a little bit and it fit nicely.

Use a flashlight to take a look down the top of the shaft to see if there's a "wrap" on the inside. I had a pro-stock One90 that had some sort of plastic-like wrap on the inside. I think somebody posted a thread about this sometime in the last month, with One90's. I wouldn't be too surprised if it applied to XXX-lites as well.

It's me. In this case, it wouldn't work out since the XXXlite is too thin inside.

i saw a picture somewhere on here with a person with a prostock xxx lite that had some sort of wrap inside the shaft so im guessing that could be the problem

The plastic bag is what they build around for the shaft. With this building process the inside of the shaft is not completely perfect, (shape wise it is not symetrical all the way around/up and down) so what you might have to do is shave down the butt end some.
