One90 Problem?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

As some might remember, I'm they guy that was complaining about the prices of hockey equipment and that the quality of the products is not up to par with the prices...

Well one day while getting a new blade at my LHS, I fell on these One90 skates that where barely used, like 2 skates to be exact... The price $400 as opposed to the $700, so i said to myself, who could pass that up right, they fit like a glove almost and I save $300 plus tax...

So I skate with them the first time and notice that the right skate holder was misplaced, no biggie, my LHS remounted the blade...

It actually feels better but not quite center even tho the blade seems to be the same now if not a millimeter of each other...

So I skated on it again and for the life of me it still feels off towards the inside, it's weird and as a result I just cant take a slap shot and thats like my favorite thing to do....

I noticed that the boot mount to the sole was wider on the problem foot, is this normal?

Take this opportunity and take the holders off the get good ones on them. I personally cant see what could be wrong there, tho, i dont have any clue, heh.

based on your foot issues you've discussed about in your previous threads, you should take this opportunity and look into doing a holder alignment. Not very many people will notice what you are describing but based on what you've been through, an alignment sounds good. The holders will shift towards the midline or away depending on whether you supinate or pronate. ask your lhs if they offer such a service, it's well worth it

Jaison16, As I said in the first post, I already had the holder realigned, theres no better setting and drilling holes a third time would most likely kill the boot because the holes would be so close... Plus my problem is leg length due to hip rotation, I pronate but honestly, in the One90, the arch support is so good that my foot cant-pronate

DarkStar50, No i did not bake them...

mew1838, Honestly at first i was skeptical but I hear stories all the time about guys finding great deals on skates that where Custom and guys shaming them for not picking em up...

I think if you bake them, they should be fine because the quarters can form to both your feet. They person before you must have a wider foot on the RIGHT skate.

So you are saying that the boot will move back in? thats very unlikely, look closely, they are just set wrong to me, it causes a buldge close to my pinky toe...

Nah, i just took them back to my LHS and he sais he sees it, it seems like the boot was glued wrong to the sole, causing my foot to be on the outside of the sole and my foot to supinate over the blade...

I concur, something is definitely wrong there. They are not the same. Can't tell if its the actual outsole or the blades that are off but there is a variance in the way they sit.

Update:

So I went to my LHS for an update on my skates, to my surprise, the guy put a shim on the inside edge of the holder on the defective skate...

Like WTF, how does that help my foot placement in the boot, my foot is crooked in the boot, the arch is way high and my foot bulges to the outside, how does this help if my heel is not centered???

No need to say, I was upset, so upset that I have a loss for words in these kind of extreme moments... The owner was not around so i could not say nothing because he actually did the work...

I feel dead in the water because I got it from them used so no retail receipt, BAUER/NIKE will not help me with this i'm sure...

You could always ask the shop to print you a back-dated receipt, then send them in to NBH. That might work, as long as the back-dating doesn't take you outside the warranty period.

I understand what you are saying and they might do that to resolve the problem but really, I'm pissed that I'm dealing with this kind of problem from a flagship product, I feel like I was taken for my money because they might of already known about this and just sold them to me this way...

And lastly, right now, with all the foot and back problems I had as result of another skate problem, my body did not need this trauma...

Ah, yes, I can understand that frustration. It's really a shame when a local shop that you've made a point of supporting in any way possible gives you the shaft.

Just keep your cool with your LHS as they seem like they're really trying to help you fix your problem. If they're actually considering printing a fake reciept so that you can get warranty replacement then you know they're going out on a limb to help you out.

Try heat molding them what have you got to lose?

For the record, they would not need to produce a fake receipt, they have the real one, It seems like he did not understand that the blade did not fully correct the problem, since my foot is not centered in the boot because of the bulge on the outside, the shim dos not really help...

I am patient, at this point I have nothing but time since my body does not feel great anyway...

Good news and bad news...

First with the good: NikeBauer looked at the skate and saw the problem so they sent me a replacement pair, in a week and a half, that was quick...

Now for the bad news: It seems like the skates I received have the similar issue, only the inside part of the boot, like WTF... now maybe this is only cosmetics because I cant tell if the boot is affected by this but here is the real bad news, they actually sent me a pair with holders misplaced, now theres nothing that pissed me off more then a holder not strait, even breaking a one piece stick one day after warranty does not piss me off as much...

Why don't they design a dam sole where the holes are part of the design? would that not make the process better?

People are so lazy, your in the actual warehouse, cant you take like a couple of boxes and send me a pair that match? is that hard, call me perfectionist but god it's a replacement pair!

Honestly I will most likely never be satisfied because my expectations are way to high, the owner at my LHS said he could sell them for me as he thinks there up to industry standards so i did not even bother molding or sharpening em...

Is it me or are the XXXX better put together? they seem better made...

Mind you i don't like the fit as much, the one90 has that painted on feel that makes it so responsive...

Also does someone know where I can get a pair of skates from NikeBauer or any other brand at this point with no blade and no holes drilled?

Anyway, heres the new pair...

you got a free pair of skates, ones that you never really paid full price for. quit being such a bitch. Misaligned holders arent the end of the world. And the 400$ you saved on your skates, take $20 out and get them aligned

You shouldn't have to fix the alignment on any brand new skates. When it happens on skates that retail for as much as the One90s (or other top of the line skates), it's not acceptable.
