$199 CDN

Why is this? Our dollar is on par with the american one, yet we still pay way more for everything. But 50 dollars more? I'd like to buy this one later on. Guess I'll try to get it shipped from the states or go there myself.

The dollars are worth the same, however, the United States has far greater buying power. Even though the currencies are floating around the same amount, Americans are 'richer'....that is the easiest way to put it.

I'm almost positive Gonchar wore it vs. the habs tonight.

Yeah i noticed that too. I am pretty sure he was , but it's always hard to tell with all the glares you see on their helmets from the lights.

It's been explained in several threads that there are tariffs involved, hence why it is more in Canada.

It has been incorrectly ecplained on almost all of these threads. That terrif on protective gear, explains about $8 of the $50 difference. There should not be anywhere near the difference that currently exists.

First of all, without debating which country is richer (see current account, trade and fiscal defecits in the US versus surpluses in Canada), that is a rediculous statement. Wholesale prices are set based on the buying power of the particular chain or store, not on the national buying power of a country. Anyhow, some of the biggest hockey stores and chains are in Canada.

Finally, which country do you think has the larger hockey playing population ?! Hint: it is not the U.S.

save your whining for your blog. I know I'm not the only one tired of this conversation drawing every thread on this board off-topic.

Now can we get some new pics of this bucket in action?

I don't want to get into a pissing contest here, but the items you referenced (trade deficits, surplus) have absolutely zero to do with a nation's buying power. The size of the hockey playing population as well as hockey chains also are irrelevant when discussing pricing differences between the same products when you go from the States to Canada. I am right, you can look it up.

The size of the market and the volume sold are irrelevant?

So what are you saying that the price of hockey equipment is based on, the number of shoes sold or the amount of tequilla consumed? My friend, your statement is completely ludicris (and just so that you are clear, I am not referring to the rap artist)

I am right, you can look it up.

Is there a great big book called Silly Things to Say About Business ? Must be because there is nothing to look up.

Look, there is an 8.5 % terrif on hockey helmets imported into Canada. That's it, nothing more. Prices on all sorts of goods are too high in Canada. The manufacturers and wholesalers have a combination of inventory to work out and a general resistance to lowering prices. Trust me it has nothing to do the "wealth of nations"....almost an Adam Smith reference.

And this was a Medium!

Best lid I've put on. Even at a M, there wasn't any pinching or anything. The VN is in certain spots of the helmet, allowing for a better fit.

Smooth as silk and twice as sexy JR.

As a guy who wears a Bauer 4000 XL and whose head is too wide for the 4500 XL, would this fit? I can't fit in a 5500 L and haven't tried an 8500.

No, I just took the picture because I wanted to see what it looked like on me. PLM said it was ok to put my ugly mug on the site, so I did. I didn't take any other pictures, not my style.

So obviously NBH will have their four 'main' helmets next year (4500, 5500, 8500, 9500), but I wonder at what point they will phase some of them out?
