Heatley resigned

Recommended Posts

I know that's a lot of money, but he's worth it. There aren't very many Dany Heatley-calibre players around, and you're certainly not going to get one cheaper than that. That's good value if you look at some of the contracts that got handed out last summer - I'd rather be paying Heatley what he'll be getting than pay Scott Gomez, Kimmo Timonen, and Daniel Briere the money they got in the summer. Chris Drury got comparable money last summer (admittedly, I think it was a little less, but I don't think by very much), but the best season of his career was 69 points, while Heatley has had 50 goals and over 100 points in each of the last two seasons. I tend to think Heatley would have done better than this on the open market, so I either need to thank him for taking less, or commend the Senators for getting him to take less.

What's below the belt about that?

He is a convicted killer, that's just a fact.

I hope he enjoys his $35m, good for him, and good for the Ottawa Senators to give him that kind of cash. Classy.

Moving on

I think thats a huge bargain. Absolutely every article I read said that Heatley could very easily get $10 million over the summer in the free agent market, which I agree with.

Besides the years (which is staying with this past offseasons theme), I think this is one of the best deals of the past few months

I hope you crash a car and kill your best friend, then ill poke fun at you. It's all in good humor I guess right? Typical Maple Leafs fan, hates that his team can't win a game anymore so takes a cheap shot at a guy, Mark Bell DUI and rape charges(rape is a willing felony), classy.

I'm going to quote this just for dramatic effect.

I felt the exact same way when Heatley was a Thrasher. The fact that he lights my team up doesn't make me like him any more, but it certainly doesn't change my opinion that he got off way too easy. Why bring up Bell into the argument? Is it because you can't find any way to justify Heatley even being in the league right now so you try to make us as bad as you? And what is this about rape charges? I've looked and never found anything on it. Its either the biggest cover up in the history of modern media, or something that a few people are blowing out of proportion because of some retarded rivalry.

Where's the fact here? Heatley pled guilty to second degree vehicular homicide--the same thing any person would be charged with in an accidental car collision in which a person died. The word "killer" suggests an intentional death, like a murder.

Good thing the Synders and Heatley have approched this thing than more class than you. They have, and are, working on trying to take this tragedy and make it into a good thing, to the extent it's possible.

I thank my lucky stars every time I get to see Heatley skate. He's always been a joy to watch, and this obvious tragedy seems to have made him into a hell of a man, too.

So Mark Bell got convicted in a court of law of rape? Wow, I missed that one.

Anyways let's review:

20 game suspension for charging someone with his head down coming around the net (Steve Downy)

15 game suspension (and 6 months in jail) for drunk driving, rear ending someone, and fleeing the scene. (Mark Bell)

0 game suspension, 0 days in jail, for going drinking (Heatley was AT the legal limit), driving 130km/h on residential streets in your Ferarri, crashing, killing your best friend, being convicted of vehicular HOMICIDE. (Dany Heatley)

But I guess Heatley 'feels really bad' about it or something right? Oh ok, in that case let's just forget about it. He's the only person who's ever felt bad about making a terrible decision in life, so we may as well absolve him of all culpability.

It is a pretty good bargin, I will admit that.

This was a simple topic about one of the top goal scorers in the NHL signing a contract, yet a couple jackasses force us to close it. You would think the other half dozen or so topics we've had to close or delete would have given them enough of a chance to get it out of their system.
