Smyth pattern

Recommended Posts

I know it used to be a banana curve but I was at the LHS and seen a Kronik Smyth. The curve actually looked like the proper toe curve in their description instead of something resembling the Easton Gaborik. Anyone else notice?

I just ordered some new Smyths and, though I don't know if they're 07's or 06's, they look the same as they always do.

The only thing I wish they'd change on the Smyth is the height of the blade.

Yeah your backhand goes to hell and at least for me accuracy is better with a straighter blade. All PP, if you're a good shot maybe it's not an issue.

My '07 don't look shit like that, it looks like a really shallow curve.

But then again, everything looks straight after playing with an ABS "custom" curve.

That's what I thought. The one I seen was shallow too. I wouldn't want to order online and get the banana show up at my door.

I have two Smyth pattern Warriors. They look more like the pic kornsined posted, then the link he included.

Not sure if it's the pic or not but mine don't look as open as that one. I'd say mine have a neutral face angle.

Any chance those shallow patterns are pro-stocks?

there's no way that any of these pics/links I posted are pro stock. He uses a very straight paddle. Literally a boat paddle.

So you've seen every stick ever made for Ryan Smyth then. That way you can totally rule out it was a stick Warrior might have made for him that he never used because he didn't like the pattern.

Obviously they can make a different pattern for him but his Gretzky man-crush is over 10 years strong and I can't see him changing any of it.

i thought it was common knowledge that the smyth pattern was kovalchuks basic pro pattern? i know kovy pros have bigger hooks but the basic pattern is pretty much the smyth, then kovy tweaks it - or made changes in later versions. maybe its his close to legal version.

they just call it the smyth, based on the lie and shape it isnt that far off, i bet at some time he messed around with the hook - in the end he always went back to flat obviously.

You guys are crazy. I've been a Smyth fan for years and I know he only uses the one curve PERIOD. I can guarantee it. He's an old school picky player. He couldn't even switch to an OPS because of his old school man crush.

He tweaks his curve all the time. I've heard some funny stories about him and his changes, JR knows what I'm talking about.

Hey I guess anything goes for practice. Maybe share some stories?

Sometimes we have to make promises before we hear stories. I do my best to respect the wishes of those who pass along information, as does JR.
