what type of paint to use?

Recommended Posts

i love my new vectors 10.0SE's. but they are fugly (at least to me). i have taken off the silver stickers on the holders and i think they would be a decent looking skate if i just painted the boomerang looking things black.

my question is what type of paint will stick to the skate?

If the time comes when my 8090s break down and I have to get a pair of new fangled glitzy shiny skates, i'll probably take the toe pro to them. I wonder if there is a matte finish solution.

First, mask off the area you want to paint. Apply Toe pro and allow it to dry fully (overnight in a well ventilated area if you can). Give it a quick spray of matte black spray paint in the morning and let it dry (it should be dry to the touch and set in two hours. You can always touch it up if it gets too shiny.

personally i wouldn't mess with the matte finish unless you're really stuck on it.

i recommend pro-toe as well. go ahead and do the toe cap with it, covering up that stupid silver trimline, and then get all the boomerang things with the pro-toe as well. that way, if there is a little gloss to the toe stuff, it will blend in and match the toecap.

i tried to but they stopped making them. since i wear an 8.0D in ccm, all of the regular 10.0's were sold out everywhere i looked (except for some expensive places). btw way, i got an awesome deal on these. bought them from totalhockey for 379.99, no sales tax, free shipping, free totalhockey tshirt, free ccm tshirt, free ccm hat, free ccm hoodie.

i haven't had time to paint them yet because i've been playing everyday. if it turns out well, ill post a pic.

the toe gaurd didn't work. it wouldn't stick, as i suspected. i ended up just taking a permanent magic marker to it. its ghetto and i don't like the glossyness of it, but i can always still paint it and i like it better than the silver shit. now i need some black laces.

I guess I don't see why it matters. A pair of skates are a tool and hockey isn't a fashion show.

I realize I didn't really help the conversation and I aplogize for that but I am a little curious as to why what your skates look like matters that much.

it doesn't matter that much. i spent a few minutes typing about it, a few minutes trying some old toe gaurd i had laying around, and a few minutes with a marker.

surely you can understand that most people care somewhat about looks. why do you think ccm painted the skates in the first place? it just so happens that i'm not crazy about the way ccm painted them.
