First Car Help

I want you to read this and really consider what I suggest:

Get an Acura. Acura's are made by Honda, they have just as good as, possibly better reliability compared to Honda. Acura is just the more up-scale car that Honda makes.

When Acura's first came out, Acura was losing a lot of money on replacement parts because people simply did not need them. No one's car had issues.

I got my first car last summer with an 8000 budget, I got a 1999 Acura 3.0 CL. It is awesome. They easily last up to 200k miles, I can't say enough how great Acura's are. Look at consumer reports for more info on their reliability ratings, high scores across the board.

Check out the Acura CL or TL. You should be able to get a 98-00' with 100k miles or less that will last you up to and over 200k miles.

here is an example of an ACURA 3.0 CL in your price range, 200hp engine, V6, leather heated seats, BOSE sound system (top of the line)... http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_...amp;cardist=165

this is the same car that I got, it is flawless, and it gets 28 MPG with that big ol VTEC engine.

I can't really understand why more people don't go for Acuras...how many cars with all these luxury and performance features also have the reliability of a Honda?

Damn, cars are so much cheaper in the states. I'd probably go with a Civic or a Corolla. I learned on a Corolla at driving school and it actually drove alot better than the Mercedes I'm driving (borrowing) now.

Wanted to ask you guys a few questions,

I'm looking at a used car for my first car and have been searching autotrader.ca and kijiji.ca and have found some pretty good deals. I was just wondering how safe is it to buy from ebay motors. I found 3 crazy deals (2004 Acura TL 9000$, 2005 Honda Accord V6 8000$, and 2004 Honda Accord V6 9,800$) All the owners I talked to have these cars in shipping containers and swear legitemacy (insurance, papers etc.). So what is a sure fire way of figuring out if these are legitemate cars and not stolen or whatever. Thanks

If they're in shipping containers, they may be imported from the US.

Carfax/Vehix charge you a small fee to lookup the VIN of the cars. When I used Carfax, it was $12 for one lookup or $15 for a month of lookups.

They basically show you a list of anytime the VIN was logged into a database. Be it a police report, an insurance claim, etc.

Sometimes used car sellers will have salvaged titles, selling the car for cheap since it didn't cost them much. Only thing is a salvaged title has a lot of jazz you don't want to work with in many cases, and some states don't allow salvaged titles for registration.

When dealing with cars, if a deal is too good to be true...

Stay far away.

How safe is it to buy a car off of ebay? Is there any way I can get screwed over, or are all cars backed by the buyer protection plan. Does anybody have experience with buying on Ebay?

Look at their feedback, and make sure you run a carfax report and the vehix. The report will tell you if the oil was changed on time, when other parts were replaced etc.
