What Nike Bauer skates are these?

Recommended Posts

I know they're not retail models. Anyone know what internal model number they are? (Okposo's skates). I don't think they are S9s are they? He's the only one on the team wearing them.

Thanks..

pretty sure they're Flexlite 18's.

They are newly branded flexlite 12's. They have a few players and all the coaching staff wearing them. Custom only.

No wonder the Gophers have been swept the last two weekends - too much screwing around at practice.

The pics are from the Gophers Hockey Media Day, as for getting swept, I think the lack of chemistry and getting too cute with the puck has been a major problem for the Gophers. Short passes seem to be a lost art with these guys. They seem to want to make the long pass and the breakout play too often. It does not help to lose defensemen like Goligoski, O'Brien and Erik Johnson to pro hockey before their eligibility was used up.

Seconded. They're custom 12's, or alternatively Flexlite 20's, which are not available at retail in North America, but are overseas -cranky mumble grumble-

As a side note, they've had more sponsors (Nike, Mission, Easton, back to Nike) at the U over the past 5-6 years than other schools have had in their entire program.

Imagine the freebies the guy that sets up the contracts is getting.

Exactly right. I saw Drew Miller's NBH-brand FL12 skates being made yesterday

Why does nike bauer let college hockey players use the one95's before the pros?

the pros are using them. but maybe its due to the fact that minnesota is a NBH school

The other thing is to look at the player who is wearing them. Okposo is a high profile player and NBH wants to have him in their newest stuff hoping that when he goes pro they will be able to get him signed to an endorsment deal.

Can companies do that? I mean give special treatment to one kid? I know that the school gets a deal or free equipment for being sponsored, but if one kid gets items unavailable to anyone else on the team is that not getting close to an NCAA violation?

You wouldn't think so. But if you were trying to market a product wouldn't you give it one of the best players on the team? van Riemsdyk wears them for UNH also.

Fisher wears them I'm pretty sure

So are the players forced to only wear that certain brand if they're on the team? If they want to wear, say Grafs, what do they do just put the NBH logo on them?
