Heel blisters

Recommended Posts

Hey all, got some Graf 709's recently and they fit me great, but for some reason the back of my left heel keeps getting blisters. I though it was due to the skate not being broken in but so far after 1 bake I have played over 5 hours in them. Is this enough time to get them molded to my feet? Will gel pads work for the time being or are there any other alternatives to making it more comfortable? Everything else except the left heel is perfectly comfortable.

Keep using them, they should break in more and then the blister problem should go away. Its happened to me before

Does your heel move around in the boot (the 709 is a high volume skate for players with thick, wide feet)?

I have high arches and insteps so they fit me really well. My heels seem to fit well and I haven't noticed any movement but I suppose there has to be a little bit given that I am getting a blister. I'll will lace them more tightly and just keep skating, but I hope it doesn't stay.

Try some moleskin... just to reduce the friction a bit until break in. Can cut it exactly to shape.

Dr. Scholls Moleskin

I wouldn't put moleskin directly on a blister--might want to put a bandaid on it first then the moleskin (since there is adhesive involved).
