The thing about many of the rivalries mentioned is many of them are very intense, but sort of short term. Ones like Leafs-Sens, even Boston-Montreal or the battle of Quebec etc..The Leafs-Habs one is different, it has transcended many eras and the good and the bad for both teams.

Boston-Montreal lasted fifty years as a great rivalry, but fans have become so jaded with the Jacobs family owning the Bruins, it's no longer a hockey town. Consequently, the rivalry has died.

However, the fans have returned to the Celtics after their offseason trades, so I believe they would come back to the Bruins if they feel the team is legitimate. At that point, I imagine the hatred for the Habs would return. There are a lot of teams we grow up hating in Boston. We hated the Lakers, Yankees, Habs, Jets, Sixers, maybe Dolphins. Believe me, we can learn to hate again. :D

The Rangers/Flyers rivalry goes back to the 70s when Schultz pummeled Dale Rolfe. In the 80s, Dave Brown dirtbagged Tomas Sandstrom with a crosscheck to the head. Last season Colton Orr destroyed Todd Fedoruk's face with one punch. The two teams stopped playing pre-season games a long time ago since they turned into slugfests. There is always the potential for something between these two teams.

I like watching Buffalo-Ottawa games, they are Very entertaining considering that they both score goals like nobodys business. That Brawl last year was pretty good too. Weirdly, Sharks-Kings games get to be a bit Physical, and when Stortini and Boogaard are in the lineup, Edmonton and Minny can be pretty Exciting. Since none of those are up there, Toronto and Ottawa get my vote, just because of there nasty history.

Boston fans still hate the Habs. It is the players who lost the rivalry. There are only 2 players on the B's from the last playoff series and that isn't enough to keep the hate going on the ice. Granted, if last night's game was any indication, perhaps it could be coming back. Maybe Neely gave the boys a refresher course on B's/Habs history.

I'd say Ottawa-Toronto as well. I'm a Leafs fan and I've been to a few games, but never between these two teams. But I have two other personal experiences that demonstrates how fierce it is.

First, in Buffalo, versus Ottawa(the brawl last year! last minute tickets in the 5th row...hit the jackpot), there was a section of Leaf fans who weren't cheering for Buffalo to win, just for Ottawa to lose LOL.

Second, I was in Ottawa for a game and they were getting spanked by Carolina, so to cheer up the fans they showed the Leafs getting sniped for two straight commercial breaks and all the fans were loving it.

I think that the Habs/Bruins games are still fun to watch. Sens/Habs is too much of a miss-match to be enjoyable. Out of the newer developing rivalries, Habs/Pens is a fun game.

Edmonton-Calgary Alot of bad blood in the west

Buffalo-Ottawa grows as the season progresses but it just seems piss poor in the early goings of the season.
