Apple Discounts?

Recommended Posts

There are some that pup up once in a while like 10% off or 300$ off, stuff like that but they are almost impossible to find. I took the Student Discount and saved enough money on my computer to buy my mouse and router. You can also look at refurbished stuff, they have good deals on that. For my MacBook Pro I bought from the regular Apple Store, but if I ever decide to maybe open a small business in photography and graphics, I might buy myself a Mac Pro from the refurbished section. Canadian prices are still not to par with the US prices, unfortunatly.

Other than what THockey said, I've only seen companies offered deals at the same rates. I'm not sure if Apple has rules on its prices but I can't even recall seeing them being on sale at Best Buy.

You might also want to chek Macmall, they seem to have good prices. If Apple Canada doesn't change their prices, I might order from them.

Slickdeals.net

This site from time to time will have decent deals on computers that usually can't be found elsewhere. They supply the promotion code...

Not 100% reliable, but what you can try is logging in, and adding a few big ticket items (realistic) to the shopping cart. Then leaving the site. Apple sometimes tracks this and will email whatever address you have on record with discount codes.

Best buy now sells some Apple computers (At least mine does). They have a little Apple section

I got an e-mail from someone in our company the other day that took us to an apple site that had our company logo at the top of the page...and some prices that appeared to be pretty good...one of the sales reps said they bought an iPod at BestBuy or Future shop (can't remember) for the same price that was on "our" site...

Kovy-

That's what I meant, they're sold at Best Buy (and somewhere else, I want to say Comp USA) but the prices never change. You can get a deal like maybe 0% financing for 12-months but the price itself won't go down.

^Yep, it's called "Price Protection" or "Price Fixing" and all the big companies are doing it now so they control sales and everything. Kinda ridiculous IMO. Sony, Microsoft, Apple, Mission, lots of companies do it in all types of businesses.

I would think it was some sort of violation of "consumer rights" if there is such a thing, but whatever.

i worked for a company with an apple "discount". when i bought my ipod i looked into getting it from apple directly. it turned out that i could get it from best buy for the same price...if i didnt have to have it shipped from apple i would have saved about $15. which was the cost of shipping. lame.

The thing is that Apple is the only company making Apple stuff; as opposed to PC's and other electrionics where there are numerous manufacturers.

Apple can do whatever they want with their prices because they don't face competition from others, so they really have no reason to lower their prices anyway. They know people are gonna get sucked into the hype, so why lower profits for no reason?

I too worked with a company for a few years that had cut certain "deals" with Apple. I didn't take advantage of any of them because they weren't deals at all.

I won't get started on my Apple rant here, haha...don't wanna throw this thread down the shitter. :P
