The Fresh Young MikeyD 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 I'm just wondering if anyone knows what company makes wood replacement blades for tapered shafts with the shortest tenons*? I've looked at all the current catalogues and from what I can see CCM has the Tacks 892, Sherwood has the 950 Taperfit, TPS has the R8 in wood and NBH has the XXX/XXXX Lite in wood as well. Did I overlook any companies? I've seen Sherwood momentum composites blades with short hosels and extremely short tenons* so I was wondering if a company makes something similar in wood? The reason I'm asking is I have a pro stock Adrenaline I'm trying to convert into a shaft. The blade broke and I wasn't able to remove it cleanly so some what is presumably the tenon* is still there. I've chipped out quite a bit so I'm hoping I can get away with what I've done if I can find a blade with a tenon* that is short enough.*edited for spelling
JR Boucicaut 3804 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 Tenon...Shortest tenons in composite will be Mission. But if it is just wood...chop the tenon to your liking. :)
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 yeah, that's what I was thinking. I had an inno shaft that needed a shorter tenon than my v40 blade had so I just chopped off the difference. I don't think cutting a tenon on a composite blade would be out of the question either but you'd probably want to keep as much tenon as possible.
odp 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 Shortest wood tapered tenon I've tried is a Christian.+1 on the Missions - less than 2" for an L2 I've got.
The Fresh Young MikeyD 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 Thanks everyone. I was thinking I might be able to cut the tenon* with wood but I was also thinking manufacturers probably have a reason make it the length they do—every inch of material does cost money. Is durability compromised or more pressure put on the shaft with a shorter tenon*?I prefer the feel of wood so I'll try to track down some Christians. If I like them enough maybe I'll give the custom-order program a try.*edited for spelling

The Fresh Young MikeyD 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 Thanks for the help everyone. I was able to track down an LHS that has some Christian tapered wood blades so I'll give those a try. Also thanks for the correction on tenon, I've learned something new and will no longer refer to it incorrectly as tendon.
mack 44 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 Pavarotti is still the best tenor.
bobovski 1 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 Pavarotti is* still the best tenor.*You spelled 'was' wrong.
The Fresh Young MikeyD 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2007 Bobovski not necessarily. Although it sounds odd because Pavarotti died, Mack can still refer to him in the present tense in that context because he's expressing his opinion on his skill as a tenor. If Mack doesn't think any man has surpassed Pavarotti in skill since his death then he's absolutely correct in saying he's "still the best tenor". Just because he's dead doesn't diminish his accomplishments. If he had said Pavarotti was the best tenor it implies that he thinks there's a tenor that's now better than him. But all that's all a bit off-topic and Mack was just talking a well deserved swipe at me. It's a good example of how even one letter can make a huge difference in meaning. bobovski 1 Report post Posted November 27, 2007 What's the world coming to...even jokes are subject to the rules of inference!P.S. It's been my experience that the 892 has a relatively short tenon...but as has already been mentioned you can just take a hacksaw to a wood blade without causing any problems.
