Gloves with comparable feel to NBH Supreme 70

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I'm looking for some new gloves. I tried the Supreme 70s and really liked the feel. It was like stickhandling with bare hands. Are there any other gloves that have the "bare hands" feel? (Excluding the other gloves in the Supreme line.)

Thanks,

qmechanic

* EDIT: Supreme One70 --> Supreme 70

if you like the one70s so much, why don't you just get them?

Because we live in a world of choice. I like to think over my consumer decisions carefully and try all my options before I commit to something. And I don't have a big store nearby where I can try all different types of gloves. That's why I'm asking for help.

Are you looking for tightness of freedom of movement? The closest is going to be the Vapor XV or Vapor XX if you want the stretch palm. Otherwise everything else is either looser and/or quite a bit more bulky.

Thanks. I'm not exactly sure how to characterize the bare hands feel, but I think the contributing factors are the thinness of the material in the fingertips and the glove's lack of bulk.

I'm pretty sure the NBH supreme series is the only one that will offer that type of feel. so one90, 70, 50 etc... If you can try on an rbk 9k i'd take a look at that as well, very good mobility.

rbks/ccm are going to be too bulky. And those are the only other gloves even close to being that tight.

Ok, I lied the x-72 might work but it's not going to be supreme tight although it is quite a bit tighter than most eagles.

I alternate between Supreme 70's and Mission He750's. (nylon pro-stock)

They feel fairly close to the same for me, although the 70's palm doesn't feel as soft as a game goes on.

My honest opinion:

I have been experimenting with different gloves...from Vapor XXX, to One90, to 4 roll, to CCM Pro tacks, to Eagle X70, to MIA MB33...you get the point. The best combination of feel, comfort, and weight for me was the TPS R8 lites. God I love those gloves.

I had NBH Supreme 70's last season and this summer i switched to the NBH Pro's. They feel quite the same, just not as narrow and more bulky.

that's exactly what he doesn't want...

after rereading the thread I think I can offer a few more suggestions by thinking "outside the box" or at least outside of the same tightness.

Obviously the new supreme series will work and I already suggested Vapor XV/XX. But the Vapor XXX is a bit looser and has a wide cuff, they aren't bulky at all. The thinness of the palm my be something you'd like.

Pro stock eastons(4-roll type) also fit a bit slimmer but will be about medium tight. If you can find eagle x-50s the smaller cuff and slightly tighter fit is nice for those that like mobility... again the x-72s might also be an option as the MSH2 palm is extremely thin and (according to sri) has been pretty durable for those at the pro level.

R8 lites would be a bit bulky as all TPS gloves but not nearly NBH 4-roll bulky. Vectors are surprisenly bulky as are the RBKs, the worst part might be the newer shorter fingers that forced me to move up a size(to my correct size 15") and MAN, talk about big gloves!

Salming gloves might work as far as fit goes but the palms most likely aren't something you'd like, they're a bit thick.

Missions are a possibility but some might be a hair bulky. I honestly dont feel like breaking down half the mission glove models that are still somewhat readily available so just try some on.

Tightest fitting gloves I've tried were the One70's and One90's, didn't like them as I thought they might not be protective enough.

Second tightest and my favorite gloves (by far) are CCM Vector series, although the new ones don't fit my hands anymore.

Third tightest were the Vapor X and Vapor Apollo gloves. The Vapor XX/XXX felt too loose for my tastes. Everything else was too loose for me (small hands).

I ended up with Vapor Apollo's and am planning on getting my Vector Pro's repalmed. The Apollo's are working really well for a cheap $40 glove, although they smell like nasty glue/chemicals.

aren't those apollos a SMU based off the supreme series?

Remember the old nikes were tighter fitting too.

They're a SUPER cheap version of the Vapor series, identical look and feel. Surprisingly protective, but cheap construction and materials. I just got them as a holdover until I get my Vectors repalmed.

I'm just giving an opinion, they aren't that bulky either, well to me atleast.

Thanks everyone, especially TBLfan. I tried the Vapor XXs and Vector 6.0s. I liked their tightness in tne fingers (in fact they seemed a bit tighter than the Supreme 70s), but the Supreme 70s still had the best feel. So I ended up getting the 70s.

And how do they feel the same?

To the OP. The 70s are a great glove especially for the price that they're selling for right now.

should have gotten the ONE90s dude, I have them and i'm in love with them.

The Supreme One90 gloves were out of the running because I wear a junior sized glove (12"). The One90s don't come in that size.
