How's work going for you?

At least with the train I get paid alot to do it. I can keep busy with signal calling and listening to music so its not all bad. I'm sure my trips to Sioux lookout wont be spectacular either.

Barnaby isn't a head case until he is on the ice. He was one of the nicest, friendliest players I've ever met when he was in Dallas.

+1. He's a really nice guy, and a lot of fun to talk to. He comes into the shop quite a bit (usually when we're dead) and chats for awhile. Really just a regular guy; doesn't really talk about his experiences in the NHL too much (thought he did light-up when I started talking about his feud with Lyle Odelein years back).

I've been on the ice with him a couple times lately, too. He's calmed considerably :P

His kid is one of two or three kids between the ages of 8-10 that practically live at the rink. They spend quite a bit of time in the shop "bothering" us - particularly when there is no one else in the store. They're hilarious, and a lot of fun to joke around with. For some reason, they all really seem to enjoy jumping on me (I guess it's a "Get the kid with the bad knee" thing). Just Monday night, one of them (Devin, probably my favorite little guy - his father played in the East Coast league, another really nice guy) climbed up to the top of a big step-stool and dove onto my shoulders/back (I wasn't looking at the time). Little Barnaby came SPRINTING into the shop without warning the other day and tried to dropkick me - luckily I saw him at the last second and was able to sidestep his feet and catch his body to make sure he didn't crack his head on the floor or anything crazy like that.

I'd like my job a lot more if my hours didn't just change. Now I get to wake up at 4:30 so I can be in Manhattan by 7.

Problem with my job is that its a hotel front desk that has so few staff that if someone needs time off it throws the whole schedule out of wack, and as the highest paid person on the front desk I get the shaft for it. In the past month and a half I've worked 9 days straight once as well as 11 days straight once, and none of it is overtime because of the pay period structure

Tuesday was my first trip on the trains and I loved it. Got called for 6am tuesday and had a 26 hour trip to Rivers Manitoba, returned Wed at 8am. Didn't sleep alot because I was pretty nervous but I was alot of fun and interesting operating a 16,000 tonne train.

Praries

NOTHING more relaxing than driving through the prairies.

I hate my job. It gets really annoying yelling at work release inmates for the same shit day after day. I wish I could go back to the hockey store, if it only paid more.

That's scary. What if one of those dudes has a shank?

Seems like there's an equal likelihood of that at both locations, JR.

Currently just have a pissy on campus job, but I'll be moving to Philly next August to work for a semester at Kimberly Clark full-time.

all I've gotta say is thank goodness I can browse MSH at work. Dreadfully slow week, just waiting for Friday and our week and a half closedown. As much as I love my cubicle and all.....

Haha, I worry about that every day, hell, these guys go out of the building every day and they do not get searched that well when they come back into the building. Sometimes, I worry about a gun. Thats one reason out many why I want to go back to the hockey shop.

I think today is the last day I'm coming in to work for a few weeks. I'm trying hard to motivate myself to get things done...but nothing's working. Including me. Guess I'll hang around for a few more hours and then leave.
