Where is the MSH buy/sell section?

Recommended Posts

I've been looking around and haven't been able to see the buy/sell section. I know I'm not able to post or sell anything yet but am I also not allowed to view it?

you want good posts with positive contributions to the conversations in threads. If you just post alot so you can buy/sell/trade, the mods can deny you the right to those forums.

Exactly.

I should take SuperStar's rights away...

Not just his, golly there are quite a few.

Since we're on the subject, wouldn't it just be easy to see who have the most activity in the commerce section and deny them access for not balancing their commerce use with forum activity?

Well, you could always just pin a topic like th...... oh wait, yeah.

You could always ban the accounts of people that ask questions answered in stickies, and warn people for actually answering them before a mod can get to it to avoid backseat moderating.

What would that achieve? Sure, in a perfect world, everyone would read the stickies and know these answers. But people make mistakes, and fortunately some people are nice enough to help them out.

Your idea makes about as much sense as jailing people who drive 5 mph over the limit.

People who have abused the marketplace have lost access. That includes those who have cheated members in transactions as well as those whose only recent contributions were exclusively in that area.

Does that actually annoy the mods, like when someone asks a previously asked question and you direct them to the topic? I always thought that was just the 'done thing' and generaly helpful and not this backseat modding

No. He meant the only recent contribution they made to the board was in buy /sell thus meaning all they come here for is to sell their shit.

correct.

I was referring to people who got members+ then ceased to do anything but commerce, bypassing the requirement.

I know on some boards, people telling new members the rules or snipping at them is looked down upon and encroaching into the moderators' territory isn't accepted. If JR and the others wanted it so they handled those things, they could easily make it known that they want it that way.

It would end the replies saying "80 posts and you're good" as that misrepresents the message that is trying to be sent. I just thought eliminating replies to questions that have been covered in stickies would be a good idea, but if JR is happy then we are all happy :D

It's a no-win situation for us. If we tell people to look up information, then we get accused of being less than welcoming to newcomers. If we answer the same questions every month, we're allowing the site to get flooded with crap.

Being new myself with this, I read the FAQ, and with a question I pm'd a mod. What is so difficult about that. From everyone that I have seen here, all have been very helpful to say the least
