Difference between Bauer pants

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me the difference between these two pants? Im looking for a pant that fits close to my current pants (Bauer 6000). I play forward in a mens league so do I really need the extra protection that the XX offers? Is the XV lighter? Thanks

I used to have Bauer 4000, and now have the XX lite pants, it was a step up, I'd say the XX lite is probably on the same level as your 6000's. The only thing that I had to get used to was the fact that my 4000 (and your 6000) had a 3 piece thigh pad where as the XXlite only has a 2 piece so at first it felt the pads were wider (where as the x000 pads had the extra section of thigh pad which allowed it to wrap around a little more closely), but they have broken in nicely and I really like them now. I think the XV lite will be a step down in protection from what you currently have. so if what you have now is more than adequate, I guess you'd be ok with the XV lite.

edit: I play fwd in men's league as well, and I would still recommend the protection from the XXlite, I've taken some hits that I'm glad I've had the upgrade.

Definitely go with the XX's if you get more protection. I am mulling over what to get as far as new pants as well. I am even thinking of going a step further. I am pretty close to getting the One-90 pant. I as well play mens league and 20 has long past me bye so protection is worth the investment. The only reason I don't look at the XX's or even the XXX's is because I was told by a pro shop whom I trust to go with a Supreme model. Good Luck

If you want the same fit as your current pants, go with the supreme70s!

Its the exact same pant as the 6000 but with inner leg zippers. Great mobility and protection btw!

I've got a pair of the XV's. They're a REALLY lite pair of pants, but maybe not the protection your really looking for. Does not have much in terms of protection outside of the thigh. But if your looking for light pants and don't need the protection as much, they're a great buy.

Ok total newbie question: I've noticed my Supreme 30 pants have inner leg zippers too, what are they for? I'm thinking I'm going to be upgrading my pants soon too (due to wear & tear and some weight loss) either to the Supreme 70 or One90 pants.

Well they give you more movement in the leg area. A lot of people cut their pants to have better movement in the legs. The zipper allows you adjust how the legs will fit without cutting. As well I have been told people like to put their skates on first which this allows if you open the zipper all the way up. I never tried it but, thats what I have heard.

Ive been using the xxlite for about a month now (came from some protex) and could not be happier. They are extremely lite, offering plenty of protection, and give me great range of motion. I highly recommend these. (I play center in an adult league, but have occasionally been a wing or d)

I wouldn't buy a pair of pants without zippers. I put my pants on after my skates/shins/socks. Makes it easier to get everything where I want it.

on the contrary, I've never used the zippers on any pants I've owned. I' used to put my pants on after skates until I started cutting the back of my pants w/ my runners.. although I guess that stopped w/ my CCM 652 tacks pants that had the cut guard, but out of habbit, I started putting the pants on before skates and have done that ever since.

I thought i'd bring this back up because I got a great deal on the XVLites for 39.99 at www.Hockey1.com. Last I checked they had all sizes in black.
