Sport Chek

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys, I know i've read something on here about how Sport Chek was selling orginal TPS Response OPS as Response + on clear out prices and searched tons of pages looking for it. So what I'm wondering is.. The Synergy SL's that Sport Chek has for sale right now (which are $140 CDN.) are truly SL's. I was so close to buying one today, but when I looked at the blade and it didnt have the CNT sticker on it, and it looked a little fishy, I opted out. So, what are your oppinions on this? Do you know if they are infact SL's?

they are al's but the first models...

Alright..

I'm mostly wondering about the sticks with the blank nameplate (just white) and it's skinnier then other name plates. Just doesn't seem right to me.

With the Response+ sticks, I think we can all agree that they were bogus, but I went in and picked up one of the SLs and they seemed quite real to me. Comparing my old SL, this one seems bang on. Only difference would be that there's no composite end plug, just a longer shaft.

Wasn't this the place that had the "Dolomites" that started making people question what kind of Warrior they actually had?

No, Sportchek never carried the Warrior product. Probably is some other place.

Round here they're all 100 flex - Sakic, Lidstrom, Forsberg. Even though, some are unmarked, they're identical to the marked retail curves.

100+ flex ... thats the only thing that stops me from buying at SportChek. too stiff for me. they used to carry 85's in SR models but not for a few years :(

Yeah they never carry 85 or whip flex. Their staff product knowledge is lacking substance too... I only shop there if I already know what I want to buy. I don't care for their opinions.

Hey guys, sorry to bump up such an old topic but I figured this would be better then starting a whole new one on the matter. Yesterday I was in the Sportschek around my house and right when my buddy and I walked in we saw a rack of RBK 6K's for 49.99 with a few "RBK 7K's" beside them going for 79.99. I pick one of the 7K's up and notice its actually a sticker. Now I'm just thinking to myself there is no way these are 7K's. I carried on wasn't interested in them anyways. Then a few minutes later my buddy calls me over and was like your right, right about what? He then shows me the stick, he had peeled the sticker off and sure enough 6K was marked on it. So my question is how can they get away with doing that? Do they even know that they are not real 7K's? Personally I think what there doing is wrong on so many levels selling an identicle stick for 30 bucks more.

They'd come like that from Rbk themself, or whoever they come from. Sportcheck wouldn't do it themselves. If its pro stock it could certainly well be a 6k just with 7k Graphics for marketing purposes. Also the average person going in to buy a stick like that isn't going to be wondering, "hey is this a sticker" they'll look at the price and be like "okay i want that one" or the moms and dads will say "this is cheap, we can get this one" etc..

I figured that they got them like that and didn't add the sticker themselves. They were prostock so it would make sense they were doing it for marketing purposes. It just bothered me how two identicle sticks, with of course the exception of a sticker had a $30 price difference. I guess it pays to have knowledge on the subject haha.

Sport Check West Edm. Mall had RBK 7K's (no sticker)/a few Sickicks/Warroir Dolomites/Easton Stealth/Stealth CNT/S17/SynElite/NBH Vapor XXXX/One90 + usual lower priced sticks. almost as good selection as most LHS around here.

Sportchek was the one that had TPS Response+ that were obviously low end sticks with the old R+ paint job. They were damn near twice as heavy as the originals.
