Not a powerful singer, for sure, wasn't digging the boys choir either. Hearing our anthem sung by a bunch of high-pitched kids doesn't sound nearly as good as a really well-done solo, IMO.

Is it Edmonton or Ottawa that has that really good male singer?

Both Edm & Ott have good anthems singers if I recall. I think the Ottawa guy is a Cop/Firefighter or something...is alweays in dress blues.

Well he did almost single handidly crush the players union, got a hard salary cap in the game which guarantees players earn less than what they would in a free market system, and on top of that negotiated an immediate 20% drop or whatever it was in all existing contracts (which was beyond retarded).

So who's keeping him in the game? Easy, the people who sign his paycheque, the owners.

As far as Bettman - there are alot of negatives - but also some positives.

I'm not sure that we would be watching hockey right now if he didn't do what he did to fix the strike and improve the monetary system in the league. That being said, he should stop patting himself on the back about it and move on to the other things in the league that need addressed.

I think there are a ton of changes they could make in the skills competition - and there are also some changes i would make in the all-star game as well.

Mack, that's exactly what our All Star game turned out to be. A cute little scrimmage where a bunch of the players declined to play...except a lot people don't watch.

Yeah, I thought about that. But it was weird to see all the new batch, and none of the old guard. All these young names and no Sundin, Sakic, etc. The times have a'changed.

But even though it's a total fustercluck, the NFL's Pro Bowl does it better than the NHL's all-star game. The only thing I have to ever think about the NHL and its all-star game to see what a sham it's become is how Rory Fitzpatrick almost became an all-star.

The same thing with Rory could easily happen with the MLB or NBA all star games, however, fans of those leagues don't bitch and moan about the tiniest little thing like NHL fans, apparently.

im not sure entirely how this would work - but for the skills comp, i want to see perron, kovalev, connolly, vanek and so on on the stickhandling skill.

i want to see souray, chara, and so on on the hardest shot.

i want to see ovechkin, crosby, st louis on the fastest skater.

i want to see the people that are good at the skill in the event, not just the random people that made the all-star team thrown in.

maybe have a competition at the team level and then whoever wins goes on to the all star game for the skills?

also for the breakaways they should just have a shooter tutor or something to avoid what nabakov did when he came out of the net 30ft and the players were afraid to even do a move.
