Most overrated/underrated company

Just wanted to know everyone's thoughts on the most overrated/underrated company producing hockey gear. I was at the rink tonight watching 13-15 years old play. It seems like they all have nike/bauer vapour skates with easton synergys.

I know that nike/bauer and easton are conglomerates who spend an absorbant amount of money on advertising. Personally I have used sherwood products all my life and find that their product is first rate. I think Sherwood would be one of the underrated companies.

Just wanted to know everyone's thoughts

Graf...it's hard to even find many stores outside of Canada that even stock their skates, let alone protective equipment.

You know what buds, you actually make a really solid point with this question. You tell me why an 11-12-13 year old kid even needs a one piece. Ridiculousness. BUT...it sells...and will for a long time.I'm a player like you, who wears what he wants cause he likes it, not cause it "looks sick" or is the latest thing. Most underrated--TACKLA...best pant ever made...most overrated..NIKE..its bauer..always was..and always will be..thank god they are getting sold by nike. best thing to happen to that company in the past 15 years if you ask me.

hindsight isn't always 20/20; NBH made a mistake IMO by initialy branding Nike & Bauer seperate (not to mention Nike's initial quality) and not eveyone chooses V40/S-ONE90's as a part of a herd. I love my Vapor XXV's (best skate I've owned yet) and who knows... maybe Warrior will buy Bauer with NewBalance $$? I hope not but... you never know

I always thought Sher-Wood was way overrated. Mind you I started playing over 20 years ago so that has shifted obviously but back in the day they were the #1 selling stick. All I ever liked was the 5030. And they had a good glove in the early/mid 90´s. RBK is overrated in my books as well. Their sticks plain suck and all their good stuff is Jofa.

Underrated I´d say TPS. Best sticks in my books. And Graf obviously since the good Graf stuff doesn´t seem to be widely available in NA.

I think this thread is overrated. I also think that when it come to pads, skates, and sticks; comfort, proper fit, and personal preference is way under rated. Who cares what the name is on your shin pads if they fit good and will save you from taking a slapper off the shin bone (not ot mention your sock cover them up anyway).

Most Overrated for me has to be RBK. If they are so great and looking to change the face of hockey yada yada yada, why don't they sell any of their pants in an XXL???

Most underrated- It is a tie here for me. I would go with Graf from what I have heard here and at the rink, the quality is awesome yet is hardly available here in So Cal except for a few shops. My second would go to CCM Tacks. Yup the old Tacks and not the new Vector junk. 5 years later, my skates are still doing great, while my friends have had to replace their Vectors twice in the same time period

One note on the kids in Vapors...While I agree that kids want what the pros where etc...the fit of this line is narrow, and that suits a large percentage of the pre teen set.

At least with NBH, if they were overrated, they actually make good gear. It's not like their stuff looks good but fails to perform/work. Since I started playing hockey about 16 years ago Bauer was always the company that worked out for me, and everytime I try something different I come back to their gear. I have all One90 protective sans shoulder pads and it is the best gear I've ever used.

I would add that underrated is Mission/Itech. More I use their stuff, more I like it. Hardly anyone I've seen uses any of their stuff, but it's solid from my experience.

I don't have anything to say about overrated, cept maybe Warrior and their catchy names :lol: Personally, I've never tried any of their stuff so I can't really say that they are overrated.

Exactly. I buy stuff based on what I like the most. I WAS a CCM fanboy but THC doesn't make anything that really works for me. Everything I use is NBH except sticks, my jock and my helmet. Mobility is limited only by me, not my equipment... YET, I'm still protected.
