Yes, JR is in Brighton, but that's not "right" over the border. Perani's in Livonia is their flagship (largest) store and is about a 1/2 hour from the Ambassador Bridge/ tunnel. If you are going by way of the Bluewater Bridge, JR's place or Perani's in Flint might be your best bet.

+1 for Livonia. Went up to Detroit a year ago for a batchelor party and made it to 3 different Peranis....spent 3 hours with a salesman picking out my new skates. Great store, great selection, and in my experience...great customer service.

I'd say Taylor is probably closer than Livonia.

Funny, most people up here avoid them like the plague based on CS. I have a feeling I know who helped you at that store, and he is a great guy.

You know that JR's store is always the best bet. You can't go wrong when you pay a visit to Mr. Proshop himself out in the dirty B.

Oh, I'm Mr. Proshop now?

JR....couldn't tell you to save my life what his name was. But he was very personable, knew his stuff, mid 30's I'd say, average size and strong build and had ZERO problems fitting me for about 2 hours. Honestly the best service that I have had in the hockey industry with regards to skate fitting in 20+ years of playing. Unfortunately 16 year olds working in shops after school to make a buck is becoming the norm, and taking the "service and knowledge" out of a service oriented industry.

You described him to a T. That's the extent of it though when it comes to that store.

In that case....I'm glad that I got to work with him. I told him at the time that he provided me with the best service that I had ever had with regards to skate purchase. You are more than welcome to let him know that he has satisfied yet another customer to the fullest extent. In his position, I am sure that positive feedback for his work and dedication is always greatly appreciated and noticed.

Much appreciated!

.................... if it is 'against the rules' to disclose in this thread, please PM me.

Thank you.
