Lets see if the rules apply to All Stars

Recommended Posts

he deserves 5 game, he will get none...

He deserves way more than five games. That's worse than Downie's hit because it was from behind. If the NHL suspends him for anywhere near as long as he deserves, the season is over, Hossa gets traded and the team has to rebuild. I would even think that Waddell might get fired. That's going to factor into the decision at the NHL level. I'm not saying that it should, just that it will.

Well said...

It was a dirty hit. He left his feet and deliberatly tried to hit him...if he doesn't get suspended it will be an imbarresment to the league

Just like this is an embarrassment to your English teacher?

Not really. It is sadly consistent of the league. Jones got 2 which probably would have been just 1 had Bergeron not been on queer street.

Well that's right on line with the theory of him missing the last pre-ASG game and being in the ASG since he's on the host team. Face it, the NHL needs help and couldn't afford him not being in the game.

The tickets are already sold, and fans in other cities will probably cheer it. I dont see it as being damaging.

You don't want it as a potential talking point, especially for a guy who was voted in by the fans.

People would actually be talking about the all-star game outside of Canada. "There's no such thing as bad publicity"

The Bertuzzi incident, the lockout. Sometimes there is such a thing as bad publicity.

I'm not entirely convinced that the Bert incident was viewed negatively by everyone. Wouldn't surprise me if there was a pretty sizable faction of meathead UFC fans out there who were turned on by the violence of it. Not going to argue the lockout, though.

But those guys get really disappointed when they aren't watching the Ducks or Flyers.

But the game hasn't taken place yet and no one wants to see something like Holik replace Kovalchuk just because he's a Thrasher too.

Nice link. I would say they are about the same in term of dirtyness, maybe Kovy's is a "little" worse.

Rivet hammers him way to hard from behind, but kovalchuk hits a guy away from the puck...

the ASG is in atlanta this year, isnt it? so there ya go

After careful consideration, and two minutes of research, I'll go with a one game suspension.

Nice call.

No chance. Meathead UFC fans would have enjoyed the bench clearers of the 70's, a one punch knockout from behind, not so much.

For those who saw the hit on Ponikarovsky last night, suspension worthy? Was it Erskine? I didn't see it, but heard it was from behind. With Ponikarovsky out for six weeks on a hit thats been called dirty, should be suspended, right?

My cousin's best friend's boyfriend's brother watched the game at 31 Flavors last night and said it was a hit from behind.

Ponikarovsky was about 2-3 feet away from the boards and Eminger with 2 hands on his numbers pushed him into the boards. In my opinion suspension worthy at least one game. Along side the shoulder injury his mouth was bleeding as his face hit just above the dasher. The refs need to be more consistent through out the league cause this was unessecary if Eminger had held up one second he could have laid a clean hit.
