When I was younger I used sticks way to stiff because i found i broke anything else, so even at the age of 12 I was using 110's, even tho i should have been using intermediates. the past couple years i made the switch to 100 and am getting used to that more and more. I'm considering making the switch to something even more whippy to accomodate wrist shots more because I dont feel im loading them up very well, if at all lol. I have tried whippier woodies a couple times but hate the slap shots, and i know a ops/shaft will have a different feel. My question is, has anyone made a switch like this? did u notice a big/small difference?, did you find them less durable?, and was your slapshot sacrificed at all?

thanks for anyones help

p.s. if it helps im 165, like 5'9" (im small but not too scronny lol)

I tried that once too. I couldn't do it. I knew guys who used twigs stiffer than a fence post and could still shoot lasers. Just because you're small doesn't mean you cant use a stick with a 100 flex. I found that a "Whippier" flex tended to give more and didn't give me the control I wanted. But most of that could most likely be contributed to being used to something stiffer. You would probably like it. It will just take time to get used to it that's all.

im about your size (5'8, 150), and I too used to use sticks that were too stiff. i remember having a kubina pro stock that was like 120. I used 100 for a while, and now use 85. I see an improvement immediately in my accuracy and power on wristers, and the 85 is the only flex i can get snappers to work with. I think the 85 will do nicely for you.

am 6' tall, about 215lbs. Was using a 100 flex till about 8 years ago, when I switched to a 85 flex. I currently use a 75 flex.

Never really noticed any diff in the shots, just that I dont have to load up as much.

I have just recently changed from using a 100 flex stick to a prostock 95 flex. The 100s would feel perfect after like 2 weeks of skating. now The 95 has the perfect kick right off the shelf. It wasnt a big change in flex, but even a small change, if it brings you closer to the ideal, can help. I tried an 85 OPS , but found that it lagged a bit on slapshots and wristers alike. these 95s still give me kick on the slappers and a good quick wrister.

I had a 100 flex Snergy ST (green one) and went to an 85 flex Stealth. I don't know if it was the stick, but I did notice getting more velocity on my snappers, and wristers. I have always had a crappy slapshot so I can't help you much there, but I could wire both with a one timer.

I have been playing with 77 flexes from NBH the last couple of months, and haven't noticed a big difference from the 85 flex really, but I had a high quality and low quality 77 flex, and notice a huge difference with shaft and blade torquing between the two.

I use both, I've figured that there are certain sticks that I like to be whippier than others.

CNT Stealth - 100 flex

XN10 - 85

Flyweight - 90

Dolo - 90

Pulse - 85 = useless, bet in a 100 flex I'd like it

I'll let you know with the s17 in a few weeks.

back in the summer I broke my OPS and I didn't have the money to replace it so I bought one of those NBH Apollos off HG and its 85 flex. I can play with it and its not effecting anything but I will be switching back to 100 when I get some cash. College is tough on the wallet. I just feel it flexs too much for me when stick handling and passing I like my sticks stiff.

Went from 100 to 77 and my wrist and snap shots are definitely quicker. I hardly take any big slappers during games anyhow so a lower flex seems to fit my game. But the biggest benefit is not putting so much stress on my left shoulder. I'm short so I cut my sticks a bit so my previous 100's were more like 125's and I never really paid too much attention until I hurt my shoulder and had to take it easy. Glad I went to 77 and I highly doubt I would ever go anywhere past 85 again. Might even want to try an INT 65 but worry I might break it.
