NBH Predicament

Recommended Posts

Needless to say I'm a little pissed off at NBH Hockey for their less than stellar durability issues with a stick that's been on the market for 2+ years, but over the past weekend in a couple pretty big games I broke 2 Vapor XXX Lites that I had been using for a while, and because they were my only two I had, I ordered another one, P88, 87 flex initially because I seem to get better feel with 87 opposed to the 102, but anyways, the 87 flex was out of stock and only the 102s were left, so I ordered a 102, with overnight shipping since I had a big game on Friday and only an old shaft and blade to use in the meantime. I get on the ice, and the stick doesn't feel right to begin with. No feel at all, the blade feels like it's almost loose even though I didn't realize that was possible on XXX Lites, and midway through the first, this guy lightly taps my stick and it shatters up by the butt-end. Now I'm assuming they're sending me a XXXX as a replacement as soon as I get a hold of NBH Hockey, and I didn't even want the XXXX to begin with since I liked my XXX Lites and the other two lasted me 4+ months each, but when something like that breaks so suddenly when I paid all that extra shipping (even though they took care of all but 20 bucks on the overnight cost since they were out of stock when the initial order was placed 5 days before), is there any way NBH hockey will do something about it because HockeyGiant told me that any broken sticks have to be dealt with through NBH. I have a huge pair of games on Friday and Saturday that could be the difference between my team making the D3 regionals or not having a postseason, and not having my stick of choice definitely would be a pain in the ass to have to play through, since using that One90 shaft blade combo is a step down from the XXX lite stick.

Aside from a normal replacement, is there anything Bauer can or would do when it's obviously a defective stick and now not only do I need to probably buy another one in the meantime since they'll take forever to get me one back, and I need a stick by friday, but I also lost out on that money from shipping the initial one, and our season ends in less than a month. I'd just go to my LHS if I had one but it's over 150 miles away and I have classes everyday so it's not a possibility.

And one more question, I was looking at east west hockey and saw this incoming stock of XXXlite prostocks, and I was wondering, I love that P88 but before that I used the Bure P10 back in the day and it was an amazing curve. Is the P10 on the Bauers now the same P10 that was the retail Bure 5 years+ ago because in that new shipment they're getting some of those in and I'd love to pick one of those up.

Thanks

Depending on kind of stick/blade you had in a P10, it may or may not be the same. If you used it and it was like the Shanahan Easton pattern, then yes it's the same.

if it's brand new, u have documentation of purchase, and well it snapped at the butt end I'd have a hard time feeling as if they wouldn't help you out. call them up or email them and tell them the same story i guess thats all you can do

Moral of the story: never go into the last weekend of the season with just 2 sticks in your arsenal.

Things will work out. Hang in there.

You're on a D3 team and there isn't a hockey shop within 150 miles?

Might be able to find a Stealth or something at a Dunham's or PIAS.

just as a heads up in case you were looking at eastwesthockey. I just called them and they said to call back in 2 hours as they were unloading a semi full of xxx-lite prostocks. Any ideas what they ask for them?

As far as the overnight shipping charges are concerned, it really isnt NBH's problem how much you paid for the stick to be shipped. You are out of luck in that department. On the bright side, I've found that NBH is the quickest in sending out replacement sticks (could just be that I live in New England).
