Montreal Nitro Lite

Recommended Posts

My LHS just got a rack of Montreal Nitro Lites. The owner of the shop claims that these sticks are the best sticks on the market for the price. I'd never heard of them until then. I wasn't that interested in the stick until I visited the Montreal Hockey website and read some of the benefits of the stick: "more puck feel than wood" and "longest lasting one-piece available."

I've seen positive comments on Montreal's older models, but reviews on the Nitro Lite are lacking. Does anyone have any experience with this stick?

Thanks.

Stick feel absolutely amazing. Puck feel is incredible. No Vibrations, puck stop dead on the blade. Great puck response on wrist and snap shots, nice clappers too. Blade is thin, but still stiff. Just be careful when you are picking a flex, since these sticks are EXTREMELY long, and the flex is rated at the current length.

Their shaft walls are a lot thicker than most other OPS, which is part of why they claim such high durability. The interior is rounded to reinforce corners and the sticks are so long so you won't have to extend them since a normal plug won't fit.

My 8500 is a great stick (wish I had a lower flex), and the 9500 I just traded felt like another notch in improvement. Haven't felt one of the new top-ends yet.

I think they've started offering senior sticks in 70 flex (you had to get a thinner shaft before). Don't their sticks cost $200 though? I'd love to try one, but I don't got that kind of cash.

$210 at one of the local rinks here... even though this particular pro shop is known to be a little pricey.

Not a weight whore by any means, but how much does this thing weigh?

x2 based on the description, it seems they would be rather heavy

do they have a modano/forsberg clone with 5 lie? wow, i just saw the price on these things...not as interested anymore

The MOD pattern is the modano clone. I don't know the lie on it though. My LHS is selling them for $160, it's tempting.

I think a good deal of their patterns come in multiple lies, but they'll have the number listed on the name plate next to the curve, along with the hand. "R 5 MOD" for a true Modano clone, right hand 5 lie.

160 isnt too bad. i just did a quick google search and most prices were >200. i don't think i should buy one considering i have tons of sticks just waiting to be used. i would love to try one out though...

Where'd you see a "Nick" curve? If you saw it in person, couldn't you tell? If you saw it online somewhere, link?

ohh yeah ill try to get a pic up...i downloaded the 08 catalog...which also means there's now a Drury curve ... 'DR'

EDIT: Warrior Weight maybe???

Montreal claims it as a Lidstrom clone, but take your own guess. They already have an Iginla (IG), Modano (MD), Sakic (SK), Numminen (NUM), and of course the Euro Curve. MD is a 5 lie BTW.

Great sticks, Have 2 (1 Lite 1 Force) both Drury clones D(DR) have on in 80 flex and one in 90 suprisingly only got a bit stiffer when I cut them down. Nice and thin but strong and stiff blades especially the Lite with the polyuretan core.

A bit off. RUMOR: Montreal hockey = Warrior hockey ??

I hadd the Lite last year and I was very pleased about it. It felt like the passes that you recived was glued to the blade and shots did come of very good, nothing to complain about the durability either.

I've seen the nick pattern in person and I would say that it is like a heatley but longer

Where did you hear that? The two companies are almost polar opposites.

Montreal is in Finland, by the way.

Warrior did just buy Montreal, however.

No word yet on what they're carrying over, but there have been sitings of Warrior-branded Montreal products (mainly goalie stuff, but we'll see).
