Malkin and the Penguins

Recommended Posts

Malkin played another superb game today, I seriously think he should win the Hart Trophy this year, regardless of whether or not he leads the league in points or any other category. On the other hand, Ty Conklin has fallen apart lately, I think his run is finally over and we'll soon see Fleury as the undisputed #1, probably within 10 days. Seeing as how Hossa and Sid will both be returning soon, I have a hard team believing anyone will beat this team in a series, unless there are more major injuries.

I don't think his run is necessarily over I just think that with Fleury coming back he now has to fight to be the "number 1" ya know....before when Fleury was hurt he was just playing without a care in the world and since Fleury has come back Conklin's game has sorta went haywire, it will really help though having Fleury come back though cause Conklin will get a break and maybe it will help ease his worries......what about Fleury changing his pads from yellow to white haha now that is something worth talking about lol

Crosby is returning tonight!! Woohoo. BTW, apparently, Conklin might officially be done, Fleury is starting again tonight and Sabourin is backing him up. I figured this would happen because Conklin is a UFA after this season anyway...

Oh well, he had a really nice run there for 2 months.

Poor Ty Conklin. I think I'm going to order his jersey this week or next as he's probably more the reason we're still high in the standings than Malkin's play as of late. Fleury is everyone's favorite again after his big shootout shutdown of the Thrashers...

Let me recap that for those that didn't see game.

Pens take lead 2-0.....Fleury lets in horendously weak goal by Slater....another crappy goal in front....score tied....Christensen misses net in first attempt, Perron loses puck on second attempt...Kovalchuk hits Fleury with puck on third.

The point is Fleury played like crap and the game should have not gone past regulation. We hung Conklin out to dry against Ottawa so we can't pin that game on him. Unfortunately it looks like "thanks for standing on your head for us....I'm sorry what was your name again? Ty? Thanks Ty!"

If Fleury heats up he'll get them pretty deep in the playoffs. But he needs to be smart and let his D do their thing, him trying to do everything is what has gotten him into trouble in the past. If he gets some quality coaching he could be great. He has the fastest feet I've ever seen on a goalie.

If his brain worked as fast as his feet we'd be OK. His rebound control is usually pretty weak and his puck handling has a long way to come. Conklin was a HUGE help to the D with him being able to move the puck. We get beat to, and knock off, too many loose pucks by the opposing side and Conklin was a major help there.

As said, if Fleury gets hot the Pens could go deep this post season.

I don't have a problem with them immediately making Fleury the number 1. It was his job when he left, he's the future goalie, its his job to have. Conklin did admirably for us and surely raised his re sale value for himself so mission accomplished for him

That save by Fleury on Vinny's breakaway was sick. Shows how fast feet = fast legs = shut down 5-hole. Vinny scores on little move probably 4 out of 5 times.

I've been saying this since before Fleury even came back. Conklin started to slow down a coupla weeks ago. I picked them both up for my fantasy team, dropped Conklin after a week and made Fleury my new number one as of Saturday...

Well like a dumbass I didn't play Fleury last night in fantasy. I wasn't sure if he was ready or not. Time to start playing him without fear

Both you and I bro...

Cost for the Flyers:

Danny Briere $10 mm for 62 points

Kimmo Timmonen for $8 mm and 41 pts

Scott Hartnell for $5.2mm and 38 points

Total of $23.2 mm + a first round draft choice for Kimo and Hartnell

Cost for the Pens:

Petr Sykora $2.75 mm for 54 points

Amazing under the radar acquisitions - PRICELESS!!

A game to talk about too. Gionta's goal was ridiculous. Fleury played well, got lucky a couple times especially on the rolling puck.

Staal almost scored on a sweet between the defender's legs turn around shot but he clanked it off the post.

That was a beautiful tip, woulda been the play of the night for me but some how only managed 3rd on "on the fly", kinda reminiscent of Spezzas on friday I think.
