I started playing ice hockey in college. My freshman year, I learned how to skate in PE classes and played intramural hockey. My sophomore year, I played with the women's varsity team (our team was really bad; half our players had never played competitive hockey before) for a year. Hockey took up too much time, so I only played intramural and a bit of club hockey for the rest of my time at college. I'm 5 years out of college now and I play for a local women's team in CT. We play other teams in New England, primarily in NY and CT. Some of the teams are very good (I think they have former NCAA players on their teams). I would say our team is intermediate level for a womens' team and that I'm an intermediate-level player. I'm positionally and defensively very sound. I have good acceleration, so I get the occasional breakaway. I'm still trying to get better at shooting. Our tema is very fortunate to have an excellent, experienced coach (husband of a player) and one practice a week.

Age 14. I'll be 32 in May......I really wish I would have started much earlier. My son is 1 and will be in skates by the time he is 2 and a half to 3.

I started at age 6, learned how to skate age 5 probably. Right now I play Minor Midget AAA with the cold lake freeze, potential to win our league but very up down. Our team gets killed without our first line, and nbow that we are reunited we beat down Fort Mac who gaves us a licking a while back 6-2 with our line being responsible for 5 of the goals. My biggest attributes are my shot and open ice speed, and a solid connection with the twins that are my linemates. if I wish i could of done anything more as a kid i would of tried hanging on to the puck more instead of trying to be a playmaker.

Started skating when I was 2 on my backyard rink. Started ice hockey at age 6. Now at 15 I'm playing in my first year Midget on the AA team. Hopefully AAA next year. My best attribute is my skating by far.

Another thing I wish I worked on more was stoppping and starting with a puck at high speeds, and tight turns while keeping speed, the dominant kids are the kids who skate like there in running shoes playing lacrosse.

Probably why I score way more in lacrosse than hockey

Started skating at 4, started hockey at 5. I am now 18, playing in adult leagues. I played "A" for pretty much all of my minor hockey career, with one year in house and one year in AA.

True, but goals are easier to come by in Lacrosse, some games have 15 -20 goals scored in them

yeah, but on a team that would win games 8 or 10 to 5 and i would score atleast 3 or 4 goals usually

box lacrosse just came to my town so we were brutal but we had a solid core of the rep hockey players who acutally got stuff done. I have always had hands and stuff but not the moves to score enough in hockey, and my badminton feet always helped me out in lacrosse.

Thats why this year i hope atleast one of the rinks here or in this town around 30 minutes of driving away has ice year round, i really want to bare down and do the stuff i hated doing in practice.

The town I live in has rink Nazi's, and on teacher convention days and exams wont let us skate even if we offer to pay for ice time, or if htey do its public skating so nothing with a puck. The town over, Bonnyville, has noon hour hockey and the rink is very close to all the schools there so the kids from Bonnyville on our team are great fundamental skaters with good moves, just not as many kids in bonnyville as here. Its awful

I really, really like the phrase rink nazi, I'm going to start using it next week.

started roller blading at 5, first roller hockey league game was 9. Stopped playing competitively at 14 to concentrate on lacrosse. Then got to college played two years college ice hockey and then the school cut the team so I'm 20 at college with no team to play on so I play a lot of drop ins and open hockey now.

Put on skates for the forst time at 33, now 40. Played inline for 3 years before trying Ice. Love both but still prefer inline. Now play B level ice and A level inline. Wife and daughters play. Do a lot of coaching for daughters teams, and adult leagues.

Started skating at 3-4, played youth hockey through squirts, but was always the worst kid on the team because I didn't like practices and wasn't athletic.

Picked up again a couple years ago, actually enjoyed playing this time around, and now I'm playing my first season of adult rec league hockey (D level).

Started right into hockey at age 8. Made my high school's D1 team my freshman year, played midget majors in the high school offseason, played college for 2 years, now I'm 21, 22 in April, just playing in a couple competitive leagues. Thinking about going down to Australia with a buddy to tryout for a few AIHL teams.
