HattrickSwayze 3 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 Jsmart, what did you think of the SE16's? I'm using the SE6's right now in your same situation, just that I play forward instead of defense. I like them alot. The double nash palm doesn't take away feel too much, and I think the Nash w/ goat skin on the SE16 is a little thinner. Good protection I think. I've taken some chops on the hand and a lot of crashes into the boards (cause I suck), and never got any stingers. I'm not sure if the 15's fit you very well or not, but I like the cuff on mine. Good mobility.

TBLfan 25 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 SE16 was unimpressive. I pretty much dislike every warrior glove but the wide franchise glove and even then, I'd rather have Eagle. NBH 4-rolls are bulky, not bad for the price at retail but for a few bucks more you could have better. My favorite semi-available gloves are Easton 4-rolls and you can find those for under $150 on a semi-regular basis.

My SE6's felt bulky at first, especially in the palms, but once they got broken in they feel really nice. I liked the feel of the palm in the Warrior gloves I tried on (MacDaddy's), but they were just way too expensive. I'm probly in the same boat as Jsmart. I haven't tried nearly enough things to know which ones are the top of the line. I'd like to try a pair of Eagle gloves at some point. Part of what narrowed me down to the SE6 glove is that I like the synthetic leather compared to the nylon.

TBLfan 25 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 SE16 felt cheap and the palm wasn't appealing, too thick and lack of feel.

TBLfan 25 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 Incorrrect.Yeah, really. 1/4" is roughly the difference between a 15" and a 14" glove. In Eagle, 1/4" IS the difference between a 14 and 15 inch glove. In finger length.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 The comment was in response to Chadd's comment on finger length. I wasn't talking at all about cuff length, width, depth, palm sizing... just finger length.

epstud74 24 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 There are a lot of cheaper but functional gloves out there. One doesnt need to spend $180-200 on gloves if they dont want to.The Warrior Haymaker is a decent glove for $60NBH 4 roll is a pretty good glove for $90There are lots of them on HG or HM..including pro stock gloves. I suggest just trying on a few pairs and finding which pair feels best.I own a bunch of gloves, but am most comfortable in my $100 Graf G700s

jaybird3 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2008 gloves is all pp. i find myself that if i'm gonna get gloves for less then a hundred i have to really go down into the 40-60 range because any higher and for me its to much technology with stretch palms and grip and wrist wraps or whatever new technology. look at super high end and i believe the technology is no different then those gloves as lower end. eagles and mia's only technology was advanced material. but essentially it was leather palm, pads and nylon/synthetic cover. that said i'm a big fan of the tps r8. tight fit, low technology, cheaper then eagles. be sure to grab a stick while you try them on, that was a $120 mistake i don't want to make again

That "technology" is on different models in different lines of gloves. It all comes down to how much you're willing to pay and what you're looking for. I've been through 7 sets of gloves with 3 more on the way to my apartment trying to find the perfect glove. All these great gloves- Mission M1, TPS HGT, Bauer XX for example- and I just find tiny things that make me not be 100% in love with them.
jaybird3 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2008 i forgot to mention the best glove i ever had was a pair of sandes. don't hear much about them and my first pair disappeared. haven't been able to try on the new ones so i haven't gotten a new pair. but if they are anything like the pair i lost 3 years ago (wore them for over 2 years before that and they were in my opinion only getting better with age) i would snap them up without thinking

There are several older pairs on ebay for like $35, but I have no idea how they compare to the set I tried.
letsgopens 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2008 There's too many factors involved. Color, material, fit, palms. If you like the Bauer fit but don't want to spend the money to get the XX or XXX, the X and XV are both very good value gloves for your money.I agree on the many factors and it is PP, Vapor XV's have been a great value for the money for me and very protective in an adult league. Had them for two years and the fit is still great, palms in good condition (I play 2-3 times a week through the year). Also, they surround my hands and wrists very comfortably while still allowing flexibility with my hands. Not quite a short cuff, but I have caught a stick between the cuff and elbow (forearm) pad in the past.
